Heya, great reaction 😀 If you're after another Billy Joel masterpiece, I highly recommend 'Captain Jack'. And in time, I think you'll appreciate 'Turn the Lights Back On'.

The songs you mentioned from the 80's were either Joel at his worst (We Didn't Start the Fire, A Matter of Trust) or in a narrow genre as a tribute -- so you are right: His stuff from the 1970s to 1980 were Joel at his most dynamic as a lyricist, musical composer, pianist, vocalist and performer. As a New Yorker who grew up in the 70s at a time that Joel and Springsteen both emerged as stars, I liked Bruce but loved Billy -- Joel is a better and more varied songwriter, someone who incorporated rock, jazz, blues and even some folk, and produced some of he most iconic albums of the 70s and early 80's. Here's some recommendations: Joel recorded three consecutive albums from 1977 to 1980 that were massive hits and each was different from the others: The Stranger -- source of Scenes from an Italian Restaurant -- were Joel as a classic 1970s singer-songwriter, borrowing from themes he experience as a Jewish kid growing up in a working-class Italian neighborhood. It includes some incredible rockers: Only the Good Die Young, Moving Out; ballads: Vienna (about his relationship with his dad and getting older), She's Always a Woman to Me, and Just the Way You Are and some songs that include elements of each, such as the title track The Stranger. The lyrics are brilliant and I say that as a writer. 52nd Street -- His jazziest album and my favorite. Zanzibar is brilliant and its chorus went viral in tik-tok during the pandemic. Big Shot, My Life and Honesty were its three biggest singles though less jazzy. Stiletto, Rosalinda's Eyes (about Joels; Puerto Rican mother) and Half a Mile Away are lesser known but fantastic. Glass Houses was Joel's most straight-up rock album. Bangers include: You May be Right, Sometimes a Fantasy, It's Still Rock and Roll to Me, and All for Leyna. Also a great ballad in Don't Ask Me Why. His earlier hits and great tracks include Piano Man, She's Got a Way, Everybody Loves You Now, Captain Jack, The Ballad of Billy the Kid, Say Goodbye to Hollywood, New York State of Mind, Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway), Prelude/Angry Young Man, Summer Highland Falls, Later hits and great tracks include Allentown, Goodnight Saigon, Pressure, and Baby Grand (duet with Ray Charles), and his tribute album to the music of his youth: Tell Her About It, Leave a Tender Moment Alone, This Night, The Longest Time and Uptown Girl.

you should turn the volume of the music up. had to turn my volume up to past 70 just to hear the video. and then your comments are so loud. need more balance. otherwise, it was good.
