This remotoring project was one of the easiest. I had just to cut two pieces of original frame, glue new insert as motor holder and then glue new motor with worm. Worm is Fleischmann spare part no. 567609 (from e.g. locomotive item no. 4000 (Schwarze Anna)). Motor cost was around 3 Euro (eBay), I had worm already, but it costs less than 2 Euro.
The result is phantastic. The only "noise" that is heard is electrical pickup rubbing on locomotive wheels, and locomotive wheels rolling on tracks. Motor is almost silent anyway, and gears cannot be heard. Switch your speakers on, or put your headphones on.
Top speed is over prototypical speed, I have set CV 5 = 170 (ESU 4.0 is installed).
