The only comedian in the world who did not have to say a word to kill the audience , walking on the stage was enough then you hear the roar of laughter , amazing .
@charliechristmas5147
2 жыл бұрын
As much as I am a great admirer of Foster Brooks, your statement is not quite true. Another comedian, Tommy Cooper, could also walk on stage, not say a word and still have the crowd in fits of laughter...too. Foster Brooks, however, had a unique talent of wordplay as a drunk, coupled with mannerisms and glances that was so, so funny, that even the great Don Rickles would laugh out loud. Now THAT is a special talent when you can reduce other ‘roasters’ to tears.

Brooks and Don Rickles made the show “work.” Sometimes these were specials, but one year it was a weekly replacement series for the summer (this particular roast was one of those summer episodes).

Brooks was amazing...plastered was his comedy image....but he was stone cold sober the whole time.

Yes, there's no way that he could perform that act precisely if he really was drunk. The fact that some people think he really was drunk shows how brilliant he was at doing it.

@@netokendal4065 abuse it? I'm not sure what you mean. Perhaps you are not aware of how aggressive some of these jokes were from Don Rickles Sammy Davis Jr and Redd Fox could be. Today we have people like Will Smith who will walk up to you and slap you. On another video I just watched were Don Rickles was roasting Frank Sinatra Don Rickles total joke about Frank Sinatra's wife and Frank Sinatra and his wife just both laughed. Unlike Will Smith walking up to Chris Rock and smacking him. Listen to what Don Rickles said in the video where they were roasting Frank Sinatra. Listen to what Don Rickles said to Flip Wilson. It's no wonder no one wanted to follow Foster Brooks.... "Remember, Lucy, you shook your pom-poms at me? And she wasn't even a cheerleader!" He always went last. Then came the Revenge Roast. Such TALENT on that stage! FAR BETTER than we have today. R.I.P. to all we have lost along the way. THANK YOU for the Laugh's. You are still Loved & Missed. God Bless.
