Thanks, always good to hear from someone that notices those details behind me... and believe it or not, that "O" that seems like the Thunder is actually the Omaha Storm Chasers, an MiLB affiliate of the Royals.

I was interested in this one because I wanted to avoid some of the stretch marks, especially on lighter hats on the back. But it looks like I'm better off trying a few different bump caps to see what works best for me, I'm a 7 3/4 so I fear they are going to be too small to be effective. Saved me some money with the video, thanks again Dre!

Great vid don't think I've seen anybody review a four way hat jack on a fitted. I personally do use one, but like you said regarding the head shapes, for me, it works perfectly! I guess "know your head". Thanks for the content

Well, no promises, but I was thinking that might make for a good 100th video, and I believe I am at 95 right now... thanks!

I made such a device myself, though it worked once and broke, but I managed to stretch the baseball cap.

I recently bought a new era fear of god dark green from the 2021 collection and the fit was much smaller than in previous releases, it fits on my head but it feels tight and I think prolonged use would cause pain, this being a 100% wool cap will shrink even more over time, having said that, do you recommend this product? sorry for my bad english, i'm from south america. Cheers!

I would recommend that you buy a standard 2-way Hat Jack to stretch that cap or any others you own. The sizes vary a lot, so it is a good idea to have a hat jack if you are planning to buy and wear more fitted hats. Thanks for the question.

Doug, what is your favorite cap in your collection?

It's "The Airborne", a Clink Room cap designed by 'EntireWorld' Looks like it could be an alternate for the Braves, thanks for asking.

In your opinion, which would work better for a scally style cap? Granted they only have a bill on one side, but with the extra fabric going back to like the ear area, more involved... I keep going back and forth on which type I should buy.

I would get the four-way for that type of cap, just because you can't "brute-force" stretch that type like you can with a fitted... I think it's better to support the whole perimeter.

Hey brother! Your videos have been priceless to me as I get into this fitted hat game. I've noticed something when I buy hats. When I buy wool hats the entire crown/dome of the hat is significantly taller than the polyester versions. I have a polyester pirates cap that sits great on my head, pretty flush and my head fills out the whole dome. I got an older San Jose Sharks wool hat thats the same size in the headband but its way taller. There's a solid inch of gap between my head and the top of the hat. It looks kinda ridiculous. Is there any real safe or reliable way to tame that down? It's like the entire dome (back panels and the crown) is just built too high.

Interesting that you seem to notice it with wool, but what you're describing can really happen with any material. Setting the crown height is something that is very dependent on the person fabricating the cap, because there's a point where you have to apply the sweatband to the crown - and therefore set the height of the whole cap. Unfortunately it is just the variation that everyone notices after they start getting a few 59Fiftys... I made a whole video about the variation here ICYI - kzitem.info/news/bejne/wpuQlqOif4OCrJg Manufacturing site also has some influence, as I personally do not like a lot of the caps originating from Bangladesh. Anyway, thanks for the praise and question!

Is it better to buy small and stretch or buy large and shrink? (Which is more effective)
@dreinthe616

In general, I believe it's more effective to stretch a cap than shrink one. Because of the variation in New Era caps, be prepared to do either one - but stick with your best "normal" size and stretch when needed, thanks.

how much does it stretch?

Same as with a regular 2-way hat jack, which is probably about one hat size up, so +1/8 or a little bit more.

Does it make sense to get one if i'm between a 73/4 and 77/8? Or does it not stretch that big?
@dreinthe616

I’d recommend trying a regular 2-way hat jack first, it’s about 1/3 the price of this one. Hats vary so much that you will want one if you wear a lot of fitteds. Based on those sizes you’ll need the size L hat jack, thanks.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many fitted hats I’ve shit canned because they “shrunk” thousands of dollars worth. Never even though to use a hat stretcher

Yes, and the regular two-way Hat Jack style stretchers are usually priced right around $20 which is a minimal investment for saving a lot of caps, thanks.
