When I was a kid I used to check the guest list on Des O'Connors show. Whenever I saw Freddie Starr was on my parents would let me stay up to watch him. He made me laugh so much, seeing this again brings back many happy memories. Oh, and it's still as funny today!

What I wouldn't give for there to be something like Des O'connor show on these days. Mind you, there's probably not enough decent guests around to make it work. The left have silenced all the good comics.

There is something special about the great comedians. They are the creme de la creme of entertainers, because they are on their own and so brave. Freddie Starr, Bernard Manning, Peter Sellers, Mickey Flanagan etc. Freddie was one of the greatest, like many of them he started off as a singer ( in a 60's mersey beat band ). He got a bit tired and old towards the end but during his peak in the 70's he was sensational.

The Great Freddie Starr. The most talented performer Britain ever produced. This man could sing beautifully, was a fine Comedian, a naturally funny bloke, a terrific Impressionist and a good actor. Freddie was more talented than most entertainers who had only a one Dimensional Talent. So sorry Freddie that your last few years alive were so damn miserable. The BBC and the media really treated you cruelly. It was disgraceful. People should never be named before they are charged with a crime. It can ruin a person's life and reputation. Freddie was one of a number of entertainers found INNOCENT of any wrong doing! But mud sticks! And it never really goes away because people always assume the worst. Poor Freddie had really bad health and this turmoil just finished him off. Broke him to pieces. Such a shame he could get over it. Freddie thank you for your wonderful talent for making us laugh and for just being yourself. I will miss you forever. G-D BLESS YOU. 💖💖💖

I’m in my 40s now but I can remember staying up late with my parents to watch the Des Oconner show in the 80s. I would love it when Freddie was due to perform on this show. His stage presence, effort into his performance to make his crowd laugh was second to none. Poor old Des would lose control of his show and it become the Freddie Starr show.... fantastic entertainer and let down by the witch hunt that followed in the 2000s. Such a shame.
