@@AugustdeChriox That make sense! when vietnam conquered the southern part after independence they were still using kanji, thus the southern people learnt those tones as the original chinese tones. While dialect of the northern part varies alongside cantonese tones
I don’t know Japanese but KZitem decided to recommend this to me. I am a Chinese speaker however, so for some reason I’m still enjoying this without understanding much. I think the writing in Kanji is helping. How fascinating! 😊

理解度チェック:「香」 (1) 日本語で呉音・漢音とも無声音 → 古代中国語でも無声音だった (とは限らない気もしますが…) (2) 現代中国の普通話で x、広東語で h → 古代中国語では喉音だった より、古代中国語では無声音かつ喉音の χ だったはず また、古代中国語で喉音であれば朝鮮語では h のはず
Love ur video, wish that it included Vietnamese too. When people made videos about Sinospheric language they usually forget Vietnamese. In Vietnamese it is similar to Cantonese and Korean with “H” sound

So I added a note at 2:05 “I should include Vietnamese, but let me forget it in this video”, because I don’t have enough, accurate knowledge on the relationship between Old Chinese and Modern Vietnamese.
