I love the vloggs lately. I mean, they are not really a "come look at my day" kinda vlog that everyone else does. They are a super thoughtful look into a great thinkers mind. Mo Betta if you ask me. Love em. Thanks Jack!

I love to see abstract processes graphed like this

Your graph has been my design method for over 25 years. It is based on persistence! Fueled by, persistence and protected by persistence. There are things I do when I know I am close to the bump. I will temp walk away and vent. I will temp do something easy to complete - and yet still rewarding to give the satisfaction of completion achievement. I will go take a shower to relax but more importantly to wash the foul stench failure tries to build up on you. And I may have to do that over 5-10 days depending on the bump I am challenged with.

Jack you are AWESOME!! I'm only just discovering the creative side of myself and what you outlined is exactly how I've felt with some of the things I've created. I'm slowing discovering myself and the creative things that get me excited. Great video and thank you!

Your youtube channle just got over that bump two days ago! I don't care that your letter to Casey is what did it. I am just so happy that more people are now going to hear what you have to say because our creative community needs not only your motivation but your thinking. Your light is switched on bro. Looking fwd to discovering how you apply all this to music and video creating.

I'm certain he only releases videos once he's happy with them. The process he described occurs during the creation of each individual video, it's not acrross all videos.

Late to the party, but thank you so much for this - - I try to remind myself to love the process, but really we all need to love the bump :) To all you bump seekers out there, keep moving forward my friends. 🙂

It’s so interesting to hear about this in the context of music because I can totally relate when it comes to novel writing. Except with that big of a project there’s a bunch of small versions of this graph inside the big one. The way I always like describing it as finding the missing puzzle piece that makes everything magically connect and work together. But I might like your version better because it feels more inevitable-as long as you spend enough time on your project, you will get over the bump and everything will come together

Much needed advice and insight. Working on my first feature script to be submitted to the Nicholl Fellowship. It’s like the super bowl of up and coming screenwriters. I am at the bump, but I’m close to being done!

Just a note on this, Jack, when I saw you perform in Vancouver a couple of years ago I specifically remember you wanting to do a stage dive, despite the fact that Electric Owl was a small club and the show had around 50 people there. You tried it the first time and it didn't work but then you got everyone to line up and you said "We're not giving up, this is going to fucking work" and I remember, for whatever reason, that being really inspiring to me. "This is going to fucking work" is still one of the most important statements in my own creative process, if I come up with a song or I think about how to perform something live and I try something and it doesn't pan out I say that to myself still.

I go through the exact thing, Jack! Especially with making songs and videos. I HATE trying to bring it in for a landing it correctly. The beginning is easy. The end is AAAAHHH! Thanks for this. You've been an inspiration for 5 years.

So interesting. I've often admired your intensity as a creator and this bump reminds me why. It's almost as if you have an idea--then you jump off a diving board over an empty swimming pool that you hope you can fill with your technical knowledge before it's too late. Swoosh! or Smack! Are you creating a sound? or are you creating a song? I don't intend to insult you, Jack--or maybe i come off as ignorant to you and am wasting your time. I'm just interested. Honestly.
