After bolting on my x-axis power feed from Grizzly, I immediately noticed the interference between the limit switch controller and the y-axis handle. This interference results in approximately 2.5-3" of y travel loss! The good news: there is a very, very easy fix that should take the average lathe/mill owner only an hour or two.
I didn't go specific with the dimensions! The modifications shown were done for a g0759/g0754, but I believe that this procedure is equally valid with any number of import milling machines. Y axis screw threads and dimensions have probably changed over the years as well....just match up your existing shaft diameter and thread pitch.
Length doesn't matter much either. I chose my length specifically because I didn't want a particular fixture I've built to interfere with my y-axis handle....it can be as short as necessary to clear the limit switch on your machine.
You could also build your extension out of a single piece of steel instead of using the aluminum collar seen in the video. I went this route entirely because I had the material on hand and aluminum is perfectly adequate for the job.
I hope that this helps somebody out! If you have any suggestions or requests, make sure to drop them in the comment section!
Thanks,
Jon
