Documentary by Samantha Lew, Alexander Wong, and Amy Ma. Single-resident occupancy hotels are often the housing of last resort for low-income people in San Francisco. Some live alone, others live with families. Some are escaping homelessness, while for some the hotels are the last barrier between them and the streets.
Residents share their stories of living in spaces often 8-by-10 feet. Most do not have their own bathrooms or kitchens. The upkeep is low, while tensions between tenants and managers run high.
