Yeah from what we have seen a big problem is that army rules seem very unbalanced out of the gate between "Do the thing" armies and "roll a dice maybe do the thing armies"

Imagine having faction abilities so bad, you're actively incentivized _not_ to use them, because they actually help your opponent more. What's that? You thought Hedonites were the sadist faction? Nah, fam, they're masochists. 😂😂😂 Here's the copium for Slaaneshbros: these are just the Index rules, so in a few years, you might get better ones! Of course, they could always end up being worse...

Sometimes in game design you have to kill your darlings because they just don't work. Sure, the idea of tempting your opponent into accepting a raw deal seems on the surface like a huge flavor-win for Slaanesh. However, there's this idea in a vacuum and then this idea within the framework of the actual game. When one clashes with the other, the actual gameplay should win imo. It seems GW disagrees. It's a shame, because Slaanesh is my favorite Chaos God, but I wouldn't touch the faction with a ten-foot pole given how they write rules for this army.

I'm glad it looks like they're making the Greater Daemons good. I got disillusioned with Slaanesh in AoS and have been running the army for Horus Heresy - in that game the Keeper (equivalent) is an absolutely horrifying wrecking machine, opening up tanks and dreadnoughts like tin cans. This is as it should always be.

I actually find myself going against the grain and really like these rules, with cavets. First of all, objectively speaking, the mortal roles are dumb. They should be AT LEAST on a 2+ so you only roll one, or quite frankly just garunteed D3 mortals. Hilarious to me that in an edition of everything being d3 do 0-2-3 mortal wounds they didnt apply that dice roll condensing HERE of all places. As discussed guaranteed box cars is insane and a fate dice in the back pocket is nothing to snuff at either. Every army at all times would take a rule that says "Guaranteed 6 on X role, but take d3". So the benefit to opponent is insane and the IMMEDIETE benefit you gain is mediocre. Its like good but as is it dous invoke that sense of "Other armies just GET this stuff from rules". So to stick the landing we really do need to inhale that copium and say "GW has perfectly tailored the rest of the subfactions, warscrolls, and spell lores to push this theme of powering up your opponent because you WANT them to charge you". The warscrolls with STRONG anti charge tech are great i feel like in any other faction that elite unit would have just ONE anti-=charge rule, they got two(Points remain to be seen of coarse). But i also feel we need more warscroll and spell abilitys that interact with euphoric and give NUTS buffs that would simply be unfair if they didnt exist in a space where you were handing guaranteed 6s to your opponent. And thats where i suspect GW is gunna flounder like we saw with the meh euphoric unlimmited buff spell. I need that to give mortals on 6s AND 5+ crits. Power that comes at a very tangable cost is FANTASTIC design space to do fun things that simply COULDNT be done anywhere else. I think it COULD create a cool faction identity for slanesh where they warp games you play with them to just be more EXTREME in every way, witch is obviously a huge flavour win for them. Would i want that style for every army? No, but in a game with 20+ unique armies, I think their is space for one to have that "powerfull, and steep cost" identity. And to top that off, its power at a cost that forces your opponent to make CHOICES. Where are these 6s best put? Thats pretty good design IMO, even if once again its not a mechanic i would want for EVERY army. This is all pretty idealistic of course. That could be the only warscroll in the army with anti-charge tech. They could flinch and simply be to afraid to make the euphoric-keyworded buffs as nuts and fun as they should be. At the very least I feel more anticipation for these rules then say tzeench, who seemingly used his infinite wisdom to copy nurgle and make busted warscrolls then went home.

We have known this for a long time, but I will reiterate it. GW doesn’t playtest, even if they do, it’s some doofus British guy making the final call and they aren’t thinking of balance, rules, etc. they are just thinking of something they want to test, like a sick twisted DM in a DND campaign.

Ya, they probably got the worst traits in the game. But they also got the best warscroll in the game with Shilaxi.
