Hi Crochet Friends! This video begins with a very quick demonstration of the Herringbone Half Double Crochet Stitch, then a short video tutorial on how to make the Herringbone Half Double Scarf. The free written pattern available and linked below.
For this project I am using King Cole Drifter Aran Yarn which was given to me by King Cole Yarns, and a 5 mm (H) Crochet Hook.

You can chain any number of chains for this stitch. The stitch multiple is 1. For the scarf I chained 218 and my scarf measures 72 inches in length. I worked a total of 17 rows for a scarf measuring 5.75 inches width.
Notes:
♥ Stitch multiple of 1
♥ The initial ch 2 counts as 1 hhdc (herringbone half double crochet)
♥ When I work into the foundation chain, I prefer working into the back bar (back bump) of the chain. You can work under the back loop only if you prefer.
♥ To make this scarf longer, chain more stitches. To make this scarf wider, work more rows. Finish off after working an odd numbered row to have the top and bottom edges match.
TIP: you need to remember to work into the ch 2 at the beginning of each row as a stitch so you may want to use a stitch marker to mark that chain 2; so you don't accidentally miss it!.
Best wishes,
