Repaired a ~1980 Hills Hoist clothesline, getting some parts custom made (pinion washer, pinion gear spring, turning down gal pipe, epoxying a new stabiliser plug) and re-assembling. Good for another 40 years!
I put a few photos and videos with some comments into the video to document the process and hopefully help others. Ended up costing just under $100 in parts but should last another 40 years lol!
Process was to purchase 60mm HD gal pipe and turn down the OD (outer diameter) to 57.5mm so it would fit the winder mechanism and caps, replace the rusted out stabiliser plug, replace the pinion gear spring, fabricate a new pinion gear thrust washer, lubricate the worm drive and gears, replace the winding mechanism bolts, and cold-gal spray everything for protection.
