This is a simple honey balsamic reduction that I like to have on hand in my pantry to elevate almost any dish. All it takes is balsamic vinegar, honey, and a little bit of time.
Ingredients:
16.9 ounce bottle of relatively cheap balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons of honey (adjust amount to your preference).
Directions:
1) Reduce balsamic vinegar over medium heat in a medium sized sauce pan until it is about 1/3 of its original volume. The reduction will be noticeably thicker and when placed on a spoon it will not run easily.
2) Add honey at the end and let dissolve on low heat for 2 to 3 more minutes.
3) Remove from heat and allow to cool before putting it in a container.
Of note, boiling vinegar does release a strong smell, so do this with the windows and doors open.
