Ingredients
1.5 chicken breast
Frying oil (canola, vegetable, peanut)
Marinade
1 tsp salt
½ tsp white or black pepper
½ tsp msg
¼ tsp baking soda
1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
Batter
¾ cup flour
½ cup cornstarch
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp white pepper
½ cup water, 1 whole egg
2 tbsp oil
Honey Sauce
½ cup water
3/8 cup honey
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup ketchup
1) Cut your chicken into cubes, slices or whatever shape you like 🦖
2) Season with salt, white pepper, MSG, baking soda, Chinese cooking wine
3) For the batter, mix self-raising flour, cornstarch, salt, white pepper, water, 1 egg and 2 tbsp oil
4) Chicken into the batter
4) Heat cold oil in a hot wok to 350F
5) Gently add chicken one piece at a time. Separate any pieces that stick. Flip so they brown evenly. Each piece takes about 3 min to cook.
6) Strain and set aside.
7) Reheat your oil for the next batch or to optionally double fry for extra crispiness.
8) For the honey sauce, mix water, honey, sugar, and ketchup. Bring to a boil and reduce until desired consistency reached. Add your chicken and toss until evenly coated.
