“The most important tool is the chair”. It almost made me cry because not many doctors believe this. As a patient suffering, it’s often something that is overlooked and never used. I was diagnosed with psoriatic but it feels like it could be rheumatoid. My doctors depends on labs.

This was interesting. I always assumed the lab tests were more important than the clinical diagnosis in confirming RA. I was diagnosed in November 2020 after my GP ordered blood tests due to my swollen fingers and sore feet. After receiving positive results for RF & Anti-CCP, my GP suspected RA and referred me to a Rheumatologist who confirmed this diagnosis. Methotrexate has helped keep the condition in check, but I still have some days that are harder than others. I always thought arthritis was a fairly minor condition until I experienced it myself! ... Thank you for explaining things and giving more clarity to how RA is diagnosed.

@@onlinemedicalconsultations9695 Thanks for your reply! It's great to have informative videos like yours here on KZitem that we are able to refer to for some expert advice to help us understand our condition a little more. My rheumatologist was talking of starting me on Hydroxychloroquine at my next visit. My RA is stable and blood test results are all okay. I'm already on Methotrexate and just wonder if it's really necessary to start another medication. Is it more common to be on more than one medication to treat RA? I know each patient has different needs, but would like to avoid being on too many medications if at all possible! Thank you for all you do to help people cope with their rheumatoid conditions 🌸🤍🌸

Now I’m more confused than ever. I mayas well give up on Rheumatologists. I just saw my new doc 2nd visit one day again 3-28-24. On my first visit he asked some questions about symptoms, checked my hands and said no swelling, I said no. He ran his own new panel discarding my stack of labs from previous Rheumatologist. On Thursday as soon as he walked in he said well you have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I said but I don’t have swelling in my fingers and he said it’s coming. He also gave me a diagnosis of MCTD due to past lab results…oh and he decided he wanted my past records afteral. I’m so confused what made he say I had Rheumatoid Arthritis. So frustrating to never get clear information and I’ve been to Mayo twice and dealing with this since 2008. My heart goes out to y’all. This is no fun

MCTD is already a diagnosis that is different from rheumatoid arthritis.. looks like there is some misunderstanding going on here

Yes Mr. Dave, a diagnosis is the final decision of the physician who is seeing you.. .he can do that based on your history and examination and some lab tests in diseases that are mainly clinical diagnoses.. he can use the criteria to help him in the process only but not to solely rely on them...
