Flagging is the technique that I can usually depend on for almost every climb. Have you had a chance to try flagging? What do you think?

I think your strength in terms of "KZitemr" is based in the fact that you are not a "super-mega strong hyper climber" like other famous youtubers. I feel myself very reflected in your videos. Good job!!!

These videos are very helpful. I am a new-ish climber (climbing since Jan 2020, less a few months for Covid) but I have a bad body for climbing (6'8", 300ish) so progress has been slow. When I first started, I was unable to climb anything in the gym, but now I'm regularly sending V2's thanks in no small part to technique videos like these :)

I'm glad that you find value with these technique videos - I was in a similar situation and still use KZitem to help me with my climbing. Thanks for watching and for your Comment!

Very good. No fluff. I think I flag most of the time, instinctively, but I'll check it out today. Also, the tip of filming yourself and seeing the pain points/checking if you could be flagging or not is great.

Thanks for your comment! I'd highly recommend filming yourself - it made a big difference for my training so I'm glad it stood out to you :)

I just want to say thank you for making these videos. I've just started climbing and most beginner videos regurgitate the same points without providing the necessary detail to actually understand them. It feels like the people making them have forgotten what it's actually like to be completely new at climbing. Saying climb with straight arms, or using toes is not actually that helpful and I've found makes it even harder to climb. Your videos have been filling in the blanks that other videos have left out (maybe it's meant to be obvious and I'm too dumb). I can't wait to give this stuff a try next time I'm at the gym.

this is just super clear and well explained. it really makes sense to try this on a climb then record yourself to really figure out if you're doing it right while focussing on one technique

Ray thanks so much for watching, I’m glad it was helpful! How long have you been climbing?

Ray it sounds like you have a great plan in place for making your way to Outdoor climbing. Gym climbing is a great place to learn and gain confidence for that, good luck! Not sure if you have the option, but if you mount wood to the tree instead of the handholds to it, you can move and change the handholds down the road - that way you can change the route if you want - just a though since there have been a lot of people making at-home walls around here.

I’m glad I found your Channel évent if I’m french and I need to focus on understanding what you are explaining. I’m V3/4 level and your videos give some good ideas to work consciensously. A good idea could be to use your experience to follow a beginner from scratch that you would personnally coach over something live 6 months. I’ve never seen this kind of video yet. Unfortunately I don’t have skills and Time to perform that. Would you challenge it ?

If only a flag would help me, in my climbing goal. Its an 18m granite slab, 3 bolts with a ground fall if you miss either of the first 2 clips. Australian grade 17. I am wondering about the ethics of longer slings on those bolts, then as I view your flag post, I see in the sidebar a PBS report on opiod use in West Virginia. Makes my dilemma seem childish. Over here we are genuinely worried if Trump gets back in. So we like Americans (eg, Peter Croft, Lyn Hill, and Frank Zappa, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, John Coltrane) but also look with dismay at the faltering of your institutions. Here for the whole country we have had about 800 deaths, total, from Covid. Anyway, enough of me ranting.

George Carlyle thanks for watching my video! Good luck with your project and I hope that flagging helps. It may be worth checking the reddit rock climbing or climbing subreddit to see if someone has already posted beta for it or you can post a video on there asking for recommendations- they can be rough in the comments but I always get someone that provides actual feedback that is useful - hope that helps :)

Thanks for your feedback, Sarah. No, I don't need beta; I have done this climb, " Quartz Route", maybe a dozen times on toprope, over 20 years, a tight rope needed on half of those. Because its granite there are miniscule holds and smearing. But will keep trying.
