The drop ball pitch can be a pitcher’s best friend when they need a ground-ball out. Proper grip and snap for this pitch can help keep the opposition from making it home.
Pitchers can use either a four-seam or two-seam grip on a drop ball. However, a two-seam grip is preferred. A two-seam grip helps you align both your index and middle finger on a seam to get a tight spiral into the ground.
When snapping the ball, you will push the ball downward while keeping pressure on your index and middle fingers.
