To throw an effective curveball, your grip and snap are key. The curveball has a similar grip to another breaking pitch, the screwball.
Both pitches give you the option of using a four-seam or two-seam grip. With the four-seam grip, you will look for a “C” on the ball’s seams. However, for a curveball, many pitchers prefer to use the two-seam grip as it allows them to have a finger on each seam. When throwing a curveball, emphasis is placed on the middle and index fingers.
For your curveball snap, you will keep your wrist firm and fingers underneath the ball. Try to release the pitch in front of your belly button.
