Thank you so much I've been growing a mango seed on my counter in a dish for a little over a week and I've just been trying to see the process of the rooting and the opening of the seed. Because at the moment my seed has a long root and it has a little Leaf piston starting to show, the seed is also opening as well and I just wanted to see if this was normal. You did the video so perfectly like I don't have to ask around anymore I really appreciate it.

Awesome! Yeah, that's normal if the seed is opening :)

@@maftuna897 yes at the moment she is growing her third set of leaves and her stem is getting thicker. In a week I'm going to have to repot her since the roots are starting to find their way through the draining holes I made. Thank you for asking wish I could post what my plant looks like to give you a better idea.

the science behind why germination occurs more quicker (and why the plant is more elongated and taller) in the dark is because the hormone gibberellin, wich aids in starch breakdown. And causes the plants stem to elongate and essentially grow faster. Dark-grown seedlings contain larger gibberellin pools than light-grown plants. That’s why it’s best to germinate In a warm dark place. Also if a seed doesn’t germinate u can treat with gibberellin to see if it kicks starts the germination or the seed is non viable. It’s actually very crazy, have u noticed ur plant at night it’s small and wake up and it’s bigger, yep that’s because gibberellin, The absence of light stimulates plants to grow fastest at night. Plant phytochromes detect darkness, encouraging growth hormone production (gibberellin), causing the plant to elongate in search of light. The same process helps plants orientate their foliage to light and helps seedlings stretch in search of light. I have a mango plant that’s grown over 15cm in 3 weeks from eating the mango, cutting the seed out, germination.

FYI. You do not have to wait until it’s fermented to place it in the pot. I totally missed the fermentation process, out of curiosity. The mango plant is a beautiful as ever!
