I know that spinning has worked for me before (though it has been quite a while since I have done it). I don't recall it ever changing the scene for me, though I may be forgetting. It seemed like the reason it helped me avoid waking was that it distracted me from my sleeping body, and had me focused on the motion of my "dream body", and how the dream environment was moving around me. In that way, it seems to be similar to the "engage your senses" approach. Btw, I just discovered your channel, and am really enjoying your lighthearted but rigorous, grounded, and scientific approach to this subject!

First of all, a compliment for your channel and your way of explaining things, very, very good! I've been a lucid dreamer for 13 years and I'm still as fast as the first day, or rather the first night, that I was lucid! I agree with you that it is due to the expectations, I myself demand stability and clarity verbally/loudly and it works for me, I also perform an RC every now and then! My longest lucid dream was about half an hour and my record is 5 lucid dreams in one night! Stay clear! greetings from Germany

as a lucid dreamer myself, I don't use stabilisation techniques. I used to but soon found out they are bollocks. I know simply have the belief that it won't end abruptly and I am good. Like you said in your WILD guide about the ironic thought suppresion thing if you worry about it the entire dream you will wake up early. I just let the thoughts come in and out.

2 things here: first of all Your method and attention to subtlety is THE BEST AVAILABLE ANYWHERE… Absolutely ‘impeccable’ delivery of the essentials. Secondly, as to prolonged lucid dreams… I have had them go on for what seemed like at least an hour. Seems after years of frustration, I realized I must remain calm and to not attempt anything more than just taking a walk for example. I did remind myself I was dreaming, but wasn’t overly obsessed with that fact. I wouldn’t connect the self-reminding with any former anxieties I had about stabilizing the dream. I m now attempting to reestablish my lucid dream work after years of putting it aside.

That's really interesting about the spinning. I had no idea there was actual evidence by Laberge to show it's effective, or that he even talked about it in his book. I thought it was purely anecdotal (shhhhh don't tell anybody I don't own a copy of the book yet 🤫). It's good you also discussed being too in a rush to achieve a dream goal and you end the dream early. I've done this on many occasions where I got too caught up in the action of trying to achieve something before the dream ends and end up losing my mindfulness. I need to work on just enjoying the adventure. If I don't have enough time to accomplish my goal, at least I enjoyed the journey and excitement of going on a mission in dream land. Lots of great and new information in this video!

There are hundreds of books out there, ETWOLD is not the be all and end all but it's a good place to start. I hope to read and review many more for this channel but that's more of a long term goal for now. As for lucidity it's about finding a balance, not get too tunnel-visioned on one particular goal but also don't lose yourself in the journey either, if you want to remain lucid that is. But normal dreams can be just as fascinating if you can remember them, so don't think of losing lucidity as some kind of failure.

Thanks! I'm just starting to Lucid Dream. I've realized that I was dreaming as I was in the process of waking up. So, I had only a couple of seconds of lucidity while dreaming. More like hypnopompia, but very clear images of actual objects. Your video helped me understand what's going on. During the day I do a Tibetan Buddhist practice of repeating to myself with sincerity, "This is a dream." "I am a dream." You mentioned something like this. This brightens my day, and I think is really helping me to learn Lucid Dreaming.

Love your channel. I started to lucid dream spontaneously, after a full year of daily meditation and keeping of dream journal. I didn't plan on lucid dreaming - it was never a specific interest of mine, but I am regularly able to induce LD now. I would say meditation was one of the most helpful practices, because that's how I am able to induce LD. Thanks for all the helpful information and an entertaining way of delivering it. ❤️

I’ve has a few lucid dreams here and there in my life. Usually close to the end of REM. Other times, more recently, it’s been when having a particularly scary nightmare (which is very convenient when I gain that lucidity because I was able to will myself awake). One time a long while ago I had a really long one that started out awesome because I was able use my lucidity to fly, but eventually I found myself unable to continue doing so. I stayed lucid the whole time but just couldn’t take off from the ground again. Was very frustrating lol. Pretty sure it’s ‘cause I lost confidence and stopped expecting to be able to fly. The other night, I suddenly gained lucidity ina very strange dream and immediately found I was able to easily contort reality to my will, making stuff change size and shape and such. I’d never experienced such powers in a dream before. It was incredibly exciting but just as soon as that’d happened my dad woke up me up agh! Feckin’ eejit! So yeah I’ve gotten another taste of lucidity so I’m very keen on your videos since finding them lol. I am definitely going to focus on expectation and staying calm in the future! Thanks!

I've been struggling with stabilization over the years (only after I learned it was a thing; never struggled before doing research on lucid dreaming as I didn't know it was a thing). Daniel Love was primarily recommending to not care about what happens and just see how it plays out. As you said about not trying to suppress the thoughts of waking up, I've been finding it works really well to allow the thoughts of waking up/stabilization to just occur and focus on the dream like it isn't happening. I don't even try to shut it up or anything. If I'm focused enough on the dream in a natural manner, it will dominate any of that other nonsense. I find I will occasionally still lose my visual sense, but I still have tactile and a sense of where I am, so I just continue with that like nothing is happening and next thing I know, I can see again! I don't remember the visual coming back or anything, but it's suddenly there. I'm trying to forget the concept of stabilization altogether and just focus directly on the dream as I mentioned. I find nowadays, engaging in any form of stabilization other than this makes the feeling of responsibility build up to either a false awakening or actually waking up. I was recently trying to jog in place to stabilize, but I eventually woke up. Fortunately, I was able to re-enter via a DEILD within about 40 or 50 seconds (when the dream finally formed) and continue. I'm sure just focusing on the dream and not doing anything else would've kept me in the dream for the lost roughly a minute in-between also. I've had pretty good success with that the past few months, but I've recently been having problems again. In a recent dream, I thought I was lacking stability, but it was perfectly stable and I was just struggling with control a little, unlike recently. That shows I wasn't focused on the dream enough to realize that. I think I'm just forgetting this simple thing and engaging in stabilization acts out of habit, making it worse from feelings of responsibility building up. I think I just need to keep practicing again and remember the simplicity of it. Either way, great advice in this video!

Yes it can be hard to unlearn this stuff and come at it from a fresh perspective. It's easier said than done and I also find myself actively trying to stabilise sometimes without realising.
@zinsy23
2 жыл бұрын
@@LucidDreamingforEejits Yeah exactly! Things went good for about a month or two recently and now I'm back to where I was before! Whenever I've found myself in a dream I don't want to end, I'll find myself rubbing my hands or something and suddenly end up in a false awakening scene. I also did it in a WILD earlier this month that took like 2 or 3 minutes to form visually at all (not normal for me). It didn't seem to make anything worse, but the temptation was very strong. It's very tempting to do when there's not a lot going on, like just a sitting conversation. Realistically, that shouldn't change anything and I need to get myself to believe that. Yeah I find engaging in that brings me to the point where I have to keep doing it, or else... I'd give anything to unlearn the concept because even though I may have not gotten lucid all that often prior to research, I still think I would be so much more successful without stabilization in the equation! I'm mainly trying to just focus on all that matters, which is the dream and dream details. Let's face it, if I'm thinking about stabilization and those things to the usual point, I'm not focused on the dream enough! I think I just need to get myself to remember that simple thing again, which has been very tricky. I think I'm either caring about not caring, or just overthinking the simplicity of it.

For me I get loud noises and strong vibrations then I feel my body rotating and I rotate out of bed and the dream is black and white, when I focus on an object (plastic cup for me) everything turns to color and I just use the cup to keep me grounded in the dream.

For me - once I start fretting about dream dissipating, that's when it does. If I just let it be as is and participate/observe it - it seems to be fine longer. Just today, I was in LD, telling myself - hey, I probably should stabilize this, it's going so well. So I rub my hands, as the popular method is, and it started to disintegrate. The rubbing brought it back, but it changed and I quickly list awareness after that. So I guess - if it ain't broke - don't stabilize it! 😂

I practice mindfulness meditation in conjunction with various dreaming techniques. Meditation and Dreamwork almost seem like 2 sides to the same coin. We want to be lucidly aware at all times. I assume when you say 'awake' that implies we are still dreaming even in this waking dream, correct? My first lucid dream actually started melting away like paint. I did indeed spin around and stabilize the dream, but found myself in a room surrounded by colossal books.

Yes I think we're on the same page, 'awake' but not always 'aware' . Going through the motions every day. 🧟♂️ 🧟♀️ it is common for spinning to put you in a new scene, just be wary of false awakenings 👐
