This is not too far off from what I've found works for me! Usually, when I fall asleep, I just let my thoughts do it's thing and if sleep was meant to be, it will happen. Otherwise, I'd consider it like meditation and the time I can idle. Either way, my thoughts tend to go in the weirdest directions and it's interesting just to see what it does. During a WILD, I like to combine that with Daniel Love's Catching the Butterfly and being in a slightly uncomfortable position. I might consider trying that idea of "becoming lucid" in the middle of the thoughts as you mentioned here.

Absolutely I'm sure many people have this approach. This is just a nice looking way to visualise it, and you can choose whether to maintain your awareness of the abstract thoughts or drift off to sleep. I did stumble upon the lucid dreaming aspect by accident but the more I read about it the more I realised other people present basically the same concept.

@@LucidDreamingforEejits Yeah I never thought about it that way before! I think I might think about it more like this because I don't want to focus too much on the thoughts that I don't catch myself falling asleep (as I sometimes accidentally do probably a couple minutes after I start dreaming rather than as it starts, and accidentally snap awake from it). While it works most of the time for me, this would be a more direct way to do it using my thoughts directly! I'll try experimenting with that sometime. I've pretty much done this from my own experiments and was very surprised how much of that was tied into the video!

I wanted to try this before I commented, so I'm back to comment : ) Last night during an impromptu WBTB, I definitely experienced some "liminal" thoughts. I snapped back to reality a few times and realized that what I was just thinking was complete bonkers and made no sense haha. Every time I noticed this though, I "pulled' on the chain to tight and completely woke up into my fully clear mind. All the "head noise" stopped (I hope you know what I mean) and I could hear my surroundings clearly again. I also made an observation.. when I started having these liminal thoughts, the voice in my head didn't exist. The absence of this voice allowed more abstract thoughts to appear. When the voice in my head is active, it's causing me to think much too rationally and clearly. I will keep experimenting with this! ✨
@LucidDreamingforEejits
2 жыл бұрын
Ah yes the head noise/voice or inner monologue as I like to call it. That would be the heavy chain, once it's gone you are free to dream! I never really knew how to get rid of it before I learnt how to encourage the liminal thoughts. Instead of pushing away the heavier thoughts, see it as replacing one for the other. It takes their place more seamlessly than if you try to force it

Success! May have been technically a DILD shortly after falling asleep during the attempt though, not sure, as I had no hypnogagia… woke up naturally after 4.5 hours of sleep so figured what the heck, went to washroom then rewatched this video. Tried the technique but there was a gap then I was in an LD so I suspect since I normally fall asleep this way, I wasn’t holding on tightly enough to consciousness and actually fell asleep but my brain was inspired enough to have a LD… anyway, still cool and I’ll work on it!

It’s something I’d like to get better at and look forward to more videos on it. I usually have WILDs when using my breath as an anchor and then when I’m ready use hypnogogia in a similar way to transition into the dream.

So that's a bit of a grey area to be honest and there are people who claim to be able to do it but even anecdotal evidence of this is few and far between. For this reason I feel it would be unhelpful to even bring up the possibility because you just know people will take it the wrong way and waste countless nights trying to do it and lose a lot of sleep over it. For this introduction into WILD I'd rather stick to what I know personally to be accurate (not to mention there have been studies that prove higher likelihood of lucid dreams following an awakening) So I'm not saying it's impossible, and I think I said in a previous video that it's just very unlikely, I just can't in good conscience endorse attempting it 😕 But thank you for coming by the channel I appreciate the discussion and the support 💚

@@LucidDreamingforEejits well I tried this last night, and no this is not easy to begin with 😅 getting is clear mind is easier after an sleep interruption than when you fall asleep the first time. But after that is where I’m kinda “stuck” for now the liminal dreaming part. As you say is it’s behind the “eyes” do I ah e to take that like literally? Or is it more like a “semi dream” while awake in the head? If it’s the second I’ve achieved is several times but only for like 2/3 seconds and than I snap back to the normal busy head thaughts. I achieve this by just trying to fall asleep but not too far and trying to catch myself daydreaming and staying there. But holding on to that while not falling asleep is hard, and I’m gonna practice that! Thanks for the reply and all tips are welcome! Have a good one!
@LucidDreamingforEejits
2 жыл бұрын
@@teunxgoku6379 yeah so it is indeed easier to fall asleep after waking up but you also have to be careful you don't lose consciousness too quickly. That's why most techniques employ a period of wakefulness in order to stimulate the mind enough to maintain awareness but not so much that you can't fall back to sleep. Then it becomes a similar struggle to the beginning of the night. (Some supplements work in a similar way by simulating that WBTB effect without having to stay up quite so long) So I differentiate between daydreaming, liminal dreaming and hypnagogia. Daydreaming can be done at any time, just by letting our minds wander. Liminal dreaming feels like something inbetween, a meditative state, like a more immersive daydream with visual elements but not hallucinatory, if that makes sense? We are still imagining at this point. Hypnagogia is on a whole other level and the visual hallucinations can feel extremely bright and vivid, along with the other senses. I honestly don't know if its possible to reach hypnagogia on demand at any time, and even if you can, I then don't know if a dream can then be formed, REM might be required for one or both of these to happen.
@teunxgoku6379
2 жыл бұрын
@@LucidDreamingforEejits thanks again for your amazing reply, I really appreciate the effort you put into these :) I can’t fully remember the day dreams/liminal dreams. But I was somewhere in between I think. I was trying to get into liminal dreaming with my own kind of daydreams. I was use a fixed scene and let my imagination do the rest and take over. My anchor was my breath, and I was counting/concentrating on my breath. An my fixed “daydream scene” was that I was the air “entering my nose” and let me mind make the rest of the experience. I’ve lost myself several times in the day dream/ liminal thought (I need more than 1 experience to really tell wich was what) and some where “weird” and “abstract” as you say, so I guess I was at a good point sometimes, but they where hard to hold on to and I’ve snapped back to reality all the time after a few seconds when my mind knew I was kinda dreaming. This will need more practice I guess and more focusing on my anchor. The thin line between awake and sleeping is thin and hard to walk onto, but ill keep trying. This is not something you learn over a day (or month for that matter) Sorry for the rant, I wanted to share my first experience with you, as you are the one to teach me :) After rewatching your video for the 5th time, when you start having your liminal dreams, you still also focus on you anchor? Like counting/focusing on your breaths? All that while you let your dreams run free? Have a great day, and a beautiful night
@LucidDreamingforEejits
2 жыл бұрын
Sorry I never replied to this last message, sometimes KZitem hides them from me 😬 So I maybe didn't explain this in the best way, but for me the anchor is the Hypnagogic Imagery itself, and I don't keep intense focus on this 100% of the time. (The boat would sink) but I check in from time to time just enough so the "boat" doesn't drift away too far. It's a balancing act, or a "thin line" as you put it. You still need to fall asleep so you cannot be too stimulated. The day dreams or liminal dreams are just a way to get to the Hypnagogic state. You could just wake up in hypnagogia and take advantage of it then (I often do this too) but the I found the liminal dreaming a good way to clear your mind of "heavy thoughts" and fall asleep consciously so to speak.

I remember a long time ago I had a liminal dream experience about how I hated getting up really early to get to the bus. This is how it went. Man my school is an hour away and I need to get up so early, if only there was a way to get to school way faster and easier. Wait a second, I can just grab an elytra! *if you don't play minecraft, an elytra are basically wings that you use fireworks to fly with* I will just grab a pair out of my ender chest *a chest that stores things, and you can break and it will still have that stuff in it if you open another one. I’ve heard of it anecdotally although I’ve never managed it myself. The general consensus is that it’s a waste of time, when you can get more reliable results during an awakening late at night or early morning. It’s like trying to catch a fish by sitting on the bank and sticking your hand in the water. You might get lucky and one will swim by but there are better ways to do it if you want to increase your chances.
