Karen - you made that palm tree come alive. Stunning the way the purples and greens come together. Thank you for inspiration and seeing with new, happy eyes!

That was a really sweet lesson, Karen! I generally work in watercolor and oils, but you have made me think again about using pastels! Isn't negative painting a great tool?!! Really love your techniques~ very helpful! You are wonderfully talented! Thanks for sharing.

You caught me on the "but there aren't any palm trees around here should I watch" I wasn't totally sure that it would be useful but, of course, you are right it's still interesting shapes and techniques that can be applied to any trees, and even some other subjects. I wonder if the caution tape was to stop folk walking under the almost ripe coconuts incase they fell. Your painting looks fabulous, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished result.

Great video, thank you! Re: the yellow tape...to keep people from walking and parking beneath the coconut palm so they don't get bonked by falling coconuts!! Coconuts don't drop predictably and they can do damage to bodies. 🤕

Thanks so much. Love it. So very helpful. One question I have is do you use a new foam core board under each painting? Because I never see any marks on it when you first begin.

Any packing material will work but most of them tend to shred on sanded papers.
