Thank you for making these, you're very knowledgeable and I appreciate the way you explore the "wrong" way of doing something first to show why it's wrong and how to fix it. I'm tired of everything I create being perpetually stuck in T-Pose, so I am teaching myself how to rig. I have just been to your website and bought your book to support you. Thanks for all your efforts!

Hey, thanks a lot for the tutorial, i nearly finished the weightpainting on my shark and wanted to finish it. The next day when i opened the rig, the weightpainting was completely broken for every joint. For example the weightpainting for the head joint shows me white dots all over the model, but it doesnt change the way it moves. So it still bends correctly. I already restarted maya, imported it in a new scene and reset the tool but nothing helps. When i edit the weightpainting, nothing changes. Any ideas?

i have some questions if you dont mind. let's say i took it further from this and created lets say 20 blendshapes and applied it to base mesh. Do i have to export 20 displacement or bump maps for every blendshape? If so, how can i blendshape between disp maps (or bump maps)?. If i just wanted to create wrinkles, could i follow a tension map approach ? is there a plug-in for that? could maya internal muscles do that? did i ask too many questions?

I did all your tutorials..GREAT WORK. But when i save this shark with the skin weights and open it again...they are all screwed up. Tried to save skin weights and import them and same problem happens. Any clue??

Not sure. Could be a Maya version bug. I've had issues with Maya 2017 for animation that I had to switch to using Maya 2015 because it's more stable.
