Agreed. If you watch it, you'll notice that the victim never moves or bothers to block. That's a rare oppertunity in a fight.

it looks like a hook, but actually it uses the rotation of the wrist combined with the rotation of the body to add more damage. Like a karate punch combined with a boxing hook.

He punches him in the jaw. It magnifies the vibrations in the brain which causes knock-outs. Basically it is violent leverage.

Yep. It adds more acceleration to the fist which produces more power.

You're probably into Tae Kwon Dope. This is the type of punch that lands quite often, especially if thrown in a combination. Just because something can be blocked doesn't mean it will be.

yes.. it's a hook by any other name... just as effective... also, unless you train for a long time - DO NOT rotate your wrist - you want you hand vertical if you have limited experience of this strike... the reason being if your hand is horizontal it becomes easier to misjudge it and catch your opponent with the knuckles of the little & 3rd finger... which with that force behind them will break (it's one of the most common injuries for inexperienced boxers).

ok im not very familiar with boxing or bokotor so please correct me if im wrong. but the thpouk kang sdam seems only a little different than a hook from boxing. like with the thpouk kang sdam u rotate ur hips more, rotate ur fist, ur arm seems to b bent more, and it doesnt start from the same position as a right hook. is all that correct or do u do that with a hook also?

Boxer's wrist is commonly associated with punches of this nature. The golden rule of a punch keep your fist tight and your wrist straight and DONT rotate ur wrist upon impact u going to hurt yourself
@SurfD91

Thing is, some of these moves are supposed to be for life and death scenarios not picking a fight with every guy that pisses you off. So you can afford getting some damage while inflicting damage to the other person aslong as you come up on top.

Sorta. Lineing the strike up with the bone enables you to hit hard, but the force itself is generated from the hip rotation.
@ING465
14 жыл бұрын
that's pretty much all that it is without the followthrough; but a hook would do much more damage, 'cause the followthrough adds the force and speed at which the arm is moving as well

The holy trinity of fighter skills "Power" "Speed" "Endurance". An strong bunch can land u that K.O. only if it lands. Speed = fast combinations, dodge, weave, the "philly stance" is an good example of this. Endurance = Ali vs Fraiser, enuff said.

@nikko23miguel I'd say palm strike. Fist punch could break your own hand far to easy, even with training. Palm strike is a lot safer, though might have les impact due to 1 les rotation point, the wrist.

@pojo205 dude hooks arent usually wide if you fight at all you know if you throw a huge wide hook just send the person a letter saying hey ill hook you in about 10 seconds so just look at my wide streched out arms... and plus if you do that that just leaves your whole side open for him to hit.
@halonano56

Just because they don't show the opponent moving or blocking doesn't mean you can't learn the move... even tho it just looks like a hook.. but anyway this show is the same as reading a book. These guys just introduce you the information. They're not trying to teach you how to do the move, they're just introducing it. It's up to you to apply that information if you want to know how to use it
