I don't know how many times in 40+ years of farming, I got the tractor stuck on a stump on rock. The tractor's lowest point is the rear axle and 2 wheel drive has an issue when the drive wheels aren't touching earth. A tractor is easy to get off the stump with a chain hooked to both rear wheels and rotate the wheels slowly. Or place a log under the tractor and chain the log to both rear wheels. I learned these methods from an old timer that farmed with steel wheels.
@johnnyholland8765
Жыл бұрын
I learned pretty much the same tricks but some folks got hurt and or killed that way too. I had a neighbor whose father was almost killed when he chained a short fence post to the rear wheel of a 4020 tractor. His muddy boot slipped off the clutch and the post came over taking out the fender and threw him off.

That's a right fine black snake alright, those are pretty good to have around because not only do they get rats and mice, but rattlers are near the top of their menu for favorite food. Yeah you might not like 'em, but trust me. You'd want to have those around. At the same time, find a lot of those, and I'd not take a stroll near any brush or tall grass just to be safe. Looked like on that first little pull on the dozer blade was making the excavator slide. And you're right about how quick a dozer can sink, watched a guy once go from mild stuck to "how did you get the seat lower than ground level in the time it took me to go get the other dozer from the other side of the site?!" That man I heard could teach a master or doctor level class in screwing up.

Ii I remember correctly, the dozer is Betty the Beast Slayer. I thought for certain she was hung on a stump! Nope, stuck in the mud! Mud is the great equalizer. Now Betty does have some serious Junk in her Trunk. I was surprised that even the Ex had to struggle a bit to turn Betty in the right direction. Was amazed at how much power Betty has. She pushed around those huge piles of brush and stumps pretty easily. I do love me some Betty the Beast Slayer!

The power of the 220 is amazing. It could scoot around 20 plus tons of dozer fairly easily but that power is pulling with the stick not pushing. I’m guessing the dozer was partly hung on something. He could use a few helpful pointers but not sure how he'd take it over the web, showing someone a better way or easier way or the proper way is a lot better taken when you can actually do it on site with the same equipment they are using in the same conditions. I'm not sure how many hours I put on in the bush, hoe, scraper or grader cuz I never kept track of them individually. A place I worked for from fall of 2010 until late summer of 2014 kept giving us updates every couple months of how many hours we were all putting in, I don't remember which year it was but in 9 and a half months I put in a little over 3600 hours.
