I must admit, I don’t have a green thumb, and so far, plants have sadly been dying (for years) under my care. And so, this isn’t just a learning experience for Michael; it’s equally a learning journey for me. As I teach Michael, I’ll be learning right alongside him and I couldn’t ask for a better or cuter project partner to work on growing not only beautiful plants - but eventually food as well. Together, we’re not only nurturing our garden but also our understanding and appreciation of nature. We’re growing our knowledge and skills simultaneously, making the experience even more rewarding. 👑To see more about our Lifestyle approach to therapy & education, check our our mini-vlogs on the Subscribers’ Page 👑 📌Gardening helps Michael in numerous ways; here are just a few: 1. Sensory Integration: Gardening engages all the senses, exposing him to different textures, smells, and sounds, which can help improve sensory processing and integration. 2. Fine Motor Skills: Tasks like planting seeds, watering plants, and handling tools enhance his fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. 3. Responsibility and Patience: Caring for plants teaches responsibility and patience, as he learns to nurture and wait for the plants to grow. 4. Social Skills: Working in a garden with others can improve social skills, encouraging communication, cooperation, and teamwork. 5. Educational Opportunities: Gardening offers hands-on learning experiences about biology, ecology, and the life cycle of plants, making scientific concepts more tangible and understandable. Learning how to grow plants and food is a vital skill that promotes health, sustainability, self-sufficiency, economic resilience, and community well-being. It addresses modern challenges related to food security, environmental impact, and personal health, making it more important now than ever. #heartwarming #beautiful #inspiration #motivation #parenting #autism #ASL #signlanguage #nonspeaking #nonverbal #autismawareness #autismjourney #neurodivergent #parentingtips #representationmatters #cute #handsome #toddlermom #autismadvocate #autismparenting #parentingautism #communication #homeschool #unschool #garden #homesweethome
