Funny story: At a meeting at Costco headquarters, someone confronted the CEO over how much money they lose with the hotdogs. They've been the same $1.50 for decades, and now cost more to buy and make than what they sell for. The CEO furrowed his brow and said "If you raise the price on the hotdog, I will 🤬 end you. Figure it out!" Interestingly, Costco loses a TON of money on a lot of their most beloved products - like the hot dogs and rotisserie chickens. They have a very delicate and conscious balance of prices to make sure they still profit, but are affordable and competitive. It's supposed to be a great place to work, too

The amount of revenues generated from the sale of their product lineup is 80-90%. Much respect for the laid back style in all of your videos. You might be interested to know that Costco Japan also carries the bulgogi bake... in fact, I had naively assumed it might be unique to the Japan menu. It looks to be exactly the same, and it's definitely a classic with a strong following here. It used to be just 420 yen (about $4 US) but the price has gradually crept up to 530 yen. Way cheaper in Korea, apparently! Seasonality of ingredients is very important in Japanese cuisine, and perhaps is even seen at Costco -- this autumn, they have introduced a marron (chestnut) soft-serve and apple smoothie.
