They got like professional riders there. - I see that. - And stuff, isn't that cool? - So good. - Real, real and real. - Yeah, it's really real at Real Truck. - Hey, I'm Tony and welcome to the Jeep Talk Show, the premier show for Jeep enthusiasts and hardcore off-roaders. On tonight's episode, news stories, Jeep new EVs to come with ice, not for your beverage, but-- - Oh wait, I thought you were talking about little nuggets of ice. - Internal combustion engines. - There you go, yeah, okay, I'm with you now. - Yeah, and newbie nuggets, Wendy continues her series of using a spotter and it must have stuff for your Jeep 67 Designs dash mounting system. Have you heard about 67 Designs before already? - I haven't, I haven't, I'm excited to hear about it. - I forget how I found them, but I found them back one of them before I got the Gladiator and actually installed a mounting system in the XJ. Now they didn't have one for the XJ specifically, but I was able to have one of their mounting, generic mounting systems and mount that into the XJ. And it's really nice to be able to have a place to put your phones or your GPS or whatever you may have that's outboard.
Well, and I'm kind of surprised the auto industry didn't push back. Did you notice, nobody really pushed back. They kind of started with both, so you could have a hybrid. And then all of a sudden it was like, you have to do it by this date. And everybody went, oh, we got to scramble. And I was like, you guys didn't do any homework to figure out is this really what the consumers want? Is this gonna be feasible? Like you talked about, we don't even have a power grid that's sustainable for what we do right now, let alone let's just add all this stuff into it. So I don't know, it's kind of sad. -
Yeah, anyway. - So I'm very happy to see this. And I guess this is one of the advantages of new management
that they make these decisions. And maybe the former one wanted to do the same thing, but he wasn't getting his support. He was, maybe they were telling him, "No, no, make it work, make it work." And so he left and somebody came in and said, "Hey, this ain't gonna work." I mean, if you guys want to sell vehicles,
we need to make vehicles that people wanna buy. And I think these, both the Wagoneer S and the Recon are nice looking vehicles and interesting looking vehicles. They're not off-road vehicles to me, but I think Jeep can make other things that aren't off-road vehicles. But it just, I think if the Recon, for example, comes with a 3.6,
now you're talking about something that everybody can drive and they don't have to worry about finding a charging station. I think that the whole EV thing, it's gonna happen. Absolutely. And I want you guys to take that away from any time I talk negatively about the electric vehicles. Electric vehicles are gonna happen, but it's not time for them yet.
I think it would be a wonderful second vehicle. But why in the hell would you wanna spend 30, $40,000 for a second vehicle when you can buy one for say 40? And have both. Yeah, and drive whatever the hell you wanna drive because there's gas stations wherever the hell you wanna drive. And by the way, I don't think the electric is 30,000, Tony. I think it's way higher. It could be. I'm just saying, let's just say it was less. I mean, and I say that, because I know Tesla has plans for a $25,000 vehicle. Although I don't know if you've been following this at all. The full self-driving is out. They've taken it out of beta, but it's now called supervised. So you still can't just have it drive itself,
but they're supposed to be announcing on August the 8th about the robotaxes. Full self-driving vehicles that do not have anybody in them except for the passengers. Gee, what could go wrong there? I just can't imagine. No steering wheels, no pedals for brakes or the go juice. I guess you could say juice with the battery. So no, I think you're gonna be very surprised. The full self-driving is doing very, very well, including reacting to hand signals from pedestrians.
