Because of this movie, commercial aircrews have been supplied with cassette players with this music score. SOP is to use this music to enhance pilot performance during critical phases of the flight. Also heard flight schools are using it too. Pilots graduate 26% quicker when listening to this song over the headsets while doing their mountain training.

A loose cap would not spill all of the oil out of the engine. The oil sump is not pressurized. Pilots inadvertently leave the oil sticks loose on Lycomings and Continentals all the time...you will get a little bit of oil out but not much. Ask me how I know. :-) Smoke systems pump oil directly into the hot exhaust pipes to produce smoke...they don't put oil into the combustion chamber. I have a smoke system that I installed on my homebuilt RV-7A.

But I have to say, once you fly in an A-10 you will definitely reconsider your choice of best single seater. Every time you fire just a small burst from that 30mm cannon on the nose the entire plane slows down. It's like hitting the brakes in a car and letting right back off. And the entire

Neuri, "Jimmy Branson" was a friend of Doug's, Reggie's and Tony's who died flying "The Snake" with Knotcher. He was running a lean mixture (remember when Doug asked Chappy, "What are you doing making my mixture so rich?"), stalled, and couldn't pull out. Chappy: As _lean as you were running_, if you went into a stall you would've _lost your engine_, and _never_ would've been able to pull it out! Doug: That must've been what happened to Jimmy! Chappy: That's what happened to the Branson kid, all right. He didn't know that, either. And, they sure couldn't tell him after they peeled him off that _cliff!_ (Yes, I know this movie a _little too well!_ :D

@cff121 AOA is the angle between the mean chord line of the wing and the relative wind. The angle between the relative wind and the longitudinal axis of the aircraft is the sum of the AOA and the angle of incidence of the wing. Difference in AOA between normal level cruise and level slow flight depends on the airfoil, power, and the flap position, which changes the chord line of the airfoil.

No it will lower the nose as compared to a clean configuration. On a day VFR flight in uncontrolled airspace, you can level off and hold a particular airspeed in a clean config, then grease pencil a line on the windscreen aligned with the horizon. You can then lower the flaps to landing (full) position, then add power and trim up again to hold the same airspeed as before. The line you just drew will be below the horizon from your point of view, indicating the nose is lowered.

Flaps will do so because the effectively change the shape and thus the effective angle of incidence of the overall airfoil, creating more lift. Since all forces must be in equilibrium for straight and level flight and the wing generates more lift for a given airspeed in a dirty configuration, the angle of attack must be less than in a clean config at these speeds to maintain straight and level flight. The nose would lower.
