This is wild: I chatted with you briefly on the start line at Mesa, and you came across my algorithm today! I ended up with 2:34 there, and I’m aiming for mid 1:13 at the Carmel half. I’m rooting for you and hope to see you there!

That’s crazy! Am I stalking you or are you stalking me?! :) Great running!! 2:34 is a great time. You should easily do 1:13 in Carmel based on that performance! Definitely grab me if you see me in Carmel!

Well done! Looking forward to next weeks build up… it’s crunch time! Winter training is rough. Makes me grateful for just a bit of rain on my hill sprints yesterday! Quite bearable temps too.

Thanks for your comment! This week was speed (to get the legs back). Next week is mileage. You’re right. Crunch time! Some big sessions coming up this week. Fingers crossed…!

Love watching this week’s training. The good weather forecast for next week should help with the mileage runs!! Glad you are feeling happier with progress now. :)))). Look forward to the next one!

Welcome to Toronto, and NO SNOW:) I live just west of Toronto. I also have the Garmin 965 and love it. it's my training guide when it comes to my body and if it's ready for a workout. Keep the training up, your training and paces are very similar to mine, except I'm only 42. keep the great video's up.

Thanks for reaching out! Toronto was amazing and I’m loving the new bike paths they have put in on the way out to that spit/lighthouse area! Yeah the 965 is helping me make some sensible decisions finally I think! Make the most of those young legs!! :)

great training! are you devising your own training plan or do you have a mastermind in the background??

I have an overview plan that I’m following but I tweak it regularly. Generally I look at what I want to achieve in a week. Last week I wanted more speed. Next week I want more mileage.

Greetings from the Czech Republic! Just discovered your channel today, enjoyed that very much. And thanks for adding km conversions! I've just turned 45, and went sub-3 for the first time last year🥳, now hoping to qualify for Berlin 2025 at the Prague marathon in May - I reckon your vids could be really helpful. Looking forward to the next one! Btw, what weight are you doing your squats with?

Congrats!! Sub 3 is a huge milestone. That’s so great that you did it! Well done! I did the Prague half marathon about 20 years ago. Such a beautiful city. Careful of the cobblestones though! Good question on the squats. I had 50kg and did 3x10 reps. Nothing too serious…. :)

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, those cobblestones are brutal :) Best of luck!

Nice and useful video! I'm also fifty and training for a sub-3. To see how you train for this sub 2.30 is really interesting for me. Do you think these double thresholds are the next level?

Thanks for your comment!! You have to be really careful. You can easily get injured. Keeping the sessions relaxed is key. So I’m making sure that on double days I do like 70% of a session rather than 2 full ones. I’m definitely not pushing either. But I’m finding that I’m more warmed up for the second session and I’m less sore than if I was doing a super hard session every second day. So it’s definitely a risk. But I’m enjoying it so far. (And you do feel like “the man” doing two sessions in a day!) Note that I come from a background of running so my body is used to lots of running. Good luck with sub 3! That’s huge.

I am on strava but I stopped using it for a while because I was too focused on others! I was going to start using it again but I like holding back my training until the videos. :)
