I’m so happy I found this and your positive attitude. I’ve been dealing with a botched double jaw surgery for 8 months now as well. It’s so painful these doctors make so much money to alter our faces and don’t even give transparent answers about the possible outcomes. I felt blind folded through the entire thing and then I was just suppose to love the results or then what ? I also found my surgeon has a god complex that his work is superior which has made it impossible for him to validate any of my concerns. Hope we can heal emotionally from this experience. Thanks for opening up ❤

i see when you move your nose to be lined up with your glabella, your whole set of teeth look shifted. I heard you say in another video, the maxilla and mandible are moved as one, and so the surgeon said it was only an orthodontic problem. But you're literally saying the whole complex is shifted over. I see what you see. It's not disrespectful for you to be concerned about your results. You're in a super vulnerable position. Also, it's not wrong or narcissistic to be concerned with one's own appearance. I'm sure you're glad your teeth close properly now, but you also deserve an aesthetic result your pleased with.

I had DJS 8 weeks ago. Been following post op stories for 2+ years. Something I found is girls that were pretty before surgery and also young seem to go through what you’re going through. You are not alone. I think the struggle is the face you knew was beautiful has changed and isn’t as perfect as your expectations of what it would be. I acknowledge there is some asymmetry to your smile but it’s what is normal. My doctor warned me ahead of time that most all faces are asymmetrical to begin with and surgery isn’t going to make it all perfect. I encourage you to see a counselor to work through the feelings. You should not be ashamed to smile when you look as gorgeous as you do. Seeing a counselor will help so much and no shame to ask for help. You’re worth the investment!

I had same surgery and whats important - it's all about our HEAD, we simply get used to this one way of smile and face proportion. I had very bad feeling about my face after the surgery too, I was disappointed and I cried thinking that all the work was done for nothing, but after 3,5 months they told me that this is my natural look and this really is - when upper jaw cover lower one a little bit. The main thing is to learn how to smile and to mimic again. So everything is alright, you just need some more time. God bless!

You are not alone in your struggle to accept your new appear post-jaw surgery. It is probably the most difficult things for people who have that procedure. I have been reading a lot about this, and it is mentioned in all of the serious, medical, non-marketing materials. You have had your old face for 20+ years, and it is no surprise that it is shocking to have a "new" face. Please believe all of those posting that you look BEAUTIFUL!!! Quite a bit like one of the most beautiful women actresses of all time: Jane Seymour. The asymmetry you notice is unremarkable to others, and there are NO truly symmetrical faces. I can't imagine that as you spend more time with this beautiful, functional face that you wont grow to love and accept it. I'm praying for you to get to that place! God bless you! Hi! Finally an update from you! I was following your journey leading up to my jaw surgery which I had in April and am now 2 months post up. Similarly, my nose was off post surgery. However this was due to the tube they had in my nose during surgery which ended up giving me a deviated septum (it was totally to one side not centered which made my face/smile appear slanted) and my surgeon performed a septoplasty 3 weeks after to align my septum with my lip/teeth. I wonder if there is any slight movement of the septum they can perform to help align vs having a more serious nose procedure. The procedure was super easy and made a huge difference. Just wanted to throw it out there as an option to explore. You know your face best but with that being said, honestly, I think your transformation looks great and you look gorgeous!

Sorry you are going through this. I just got DJS two weeks ago. I too ended up with a crooked nose and my midline is slightly off. What my surgeon said was because my upper jaw was pushed back they shortened my septum but because the breathing tube was in my nose, it was difficult to see exactly how much of the septum to remove. So now that my swelling is going down my surgeon scheduled me for septum revision in a month to remove a bit more so my nose isn’t scrunched, which’s why it’s crooked. My midline will be corrected with behind the teeth braces. Invisalign was not an option. Septum revision is included in my treatment plan. I wonder if the same is causing your nose to be crooked.

Jjust commented the same on her other video, the 1 year post OP one. I never had any surgeries but I have a super asymmetrical face naturally . I can relate so well to what she is experiencing. I still did not get used to my face and I had 45 years of time to do so. I did research quite a bit but have not really found anything that could be done as it´s just the whole face, left and right is asymmetric, from eyebrows to cheeks to lower part. And my forehead and nose are in one line and then my teeth and chin are in another line and all looks crooked. It´s kind of nice to see that there are more people out there struggling from this, I always felt like I am the only one. Big hug to everyone with asymmetrical features 🤗

Oh girl. Your latest update video popped up randomly yesterday, so I started watching your others today, and I just wanted to comment to a) say I’m so sorry you’ve had this experience, but b) your positive attitude and optimistic outlook are so impressive in light of the circumstances. I’m not too much older than you and I’ve had my fair share of negative medical/orthodontic experiences where doctors have let me down, so I truly deeply feel for you. It’s already difficult to build up the trust and courage to have something so major done to you, and then for the supposed experts/authorities to not come through, and to discount your concerns…it’s so hard. And disillusioning. Hang in there, and (to be cheesy but 100% sincere) know that you look gorgeous no matter what because of your lovely spirit. Do keep us updated, and good luck figuring out your next steps. P.S. I actually commented on this video instead of the latest one because I was totally not expecting to hear one of my favorite Blink-182 songs on in the background!! Good choice :)

You were beautiful before the surgery and still is, but I can totally see what you mean about your nose and smile and I agree, there's something off. Of course things are unpredictable with any surgery etc etc you’ve heard it all everyone’s anatomy is different. Hey Rach! I personally think you look great😍 But I do understand where you are coming from and what you are going through. I had double jaw surgery 2 years ago. Right away when I first saw my new smile I felt something was wrong, the midline was off and the whole bottom of my face looked crooked, the midline lined up with my chin but not my nose, if you understand what I mean. Also my upper jaw was tilting on one side. I felt so bad because I’ve struggled with braces and had a really tough surgery only to end up feeling more selfconscious than before, not wanting to smile at all. It doesent matter if people say ”it does’nt show” because you see it yourself. I told my orthodontist and my surgeon about my concerns and where also met with ”no everything is fine, your bite is perfect now” I was also afraid of affending the surgeon with my concerns. But I feelt so strongly that I did’nt want this to be the outcome of this whole thing so I ended up naging him untill he agreed to operate me again, it took over a year. If he would’nt have operated me again my second plan was to contact another surgeon to get a second opinion. And im thinking maybe that is something you can do? Get another, not biased, surgeons opinion on what he/she thinks about the outcome of the surgery. Im sending love and stenght your way and hope you end up feeling happy whatever the outcome❤️

Was your nose off balance before the surgery or was it straight? I notice you tilt your head a bit to the right… I’m pretty sure that habitually can cause the face to grow a little unevenly. It could be a muscle issue that you still need to train your muscles on the new smile. That being said, your nose is obviously deviated, and that is not uncommon. DJS does change the nose, I’m sure you already know this. Perhaps you had an issue with your nose in the past but the surgery made it more prominent. Why don’t you consult an ENT?

hope your recovery is going well! if I get the nose aligned with my face then my smile will look even more off lol so idk what to do because it helps to camouflage it rn. my oral surgeon can do an alar base reduction which will just narrow the nose, not straighten it (but it will also leave scars and i’ve heard mixed reviews about it) so i’m still thinking about my options! I should probably consult w an ENT or plastic surgeon like you said.

When I had my jaw surgery, they put a wire hook into both my ears connected to a device to bite on. It hurt a lot, I don't know if you had it, but it was to make sure my jaw was aligned. It was used in surgery too. I mention this in case your surgeon did not use this device or know it exists (commented on your other video what surgeon I went to) and if you're scared you'll get a bad result again. I think knowing such a device and technique exists can ease your worries. To me it sounds like you had a bad surgeon and your only mistake was trusting a snake. You can have a good result. I wish I had gotten my surgery 10 years sooner. Please have hope that it can be fixed. It breaks my heart you did not have a good result.

Have you looked at bottom lip scar revision? The smile doesn’t seem too off, but the way bottom lip is working half way? Sometimes it’s growing webbing inside the lip after incision and makes the lip uneven during speech.

Your jaw looks 100% better now than it did before. And your smile is definitely not off. You are fixated on this and nobody would do what you asked to healthy teeth, i hope. Your smile is beautiful and your jaw looks great. It has really improved your face.

I would be upset if I were in your shoes, too. I had DJS two weeks ago and thankfully I had a good result. I watched your videos before my surgery and they made me nervous but I was glad that you shared your experience so I knew what could happen. Hope you are doing all right now.

I had DJS, a genioplasty and they fixed my deviated septum in July 2020 by Univeristy of Alabama Birmingham. Do you have a deviated septum by chance? Maybe that could be why your nose is slightly off? I think you look beautiful!!

My orthodontist told me yesterday that I basically have 2 options… jaw surgery or pulling 2 upper teeth and wearing braces to pull my front teeth in more. He said the jaw surgery would be the better option because it’s actually fixing my bite and the other option is basically camouflaging the problem. But it would get rid of my overbite. Have no clue what I’m gonna do yet

Would braces be an option? They’re super inconvenient but very effective in shifting teeth?

I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I never thought about the center line of the nose being off after surgery. I'm already kinda asymmetric so not sure what I would feel. Used to it or upset it's worse. Please keep smiling with your teeth though, you still have a very pretty smile! I don't think anyone would notice the "off" unless you point it out.

I’m not an expect but would braces or retainer be able to correct your teeth centring issue, cause I also have a pretty serve underbite and I got expanders twice and I had braces but I’ll have to get braces again when I get underbite surgery so maybe retainer might help???

I can see the mis-alignment I can’t lie and say I don’t see it. Although I strongly believe it’s something that can be fixed if they just own up to their medical mistakes. The doctor shouldn’t just say that your smile is perfect that’s so narcissistic of him. At least he should admit that the jaw reconstruction messed the alignment and now let’s see how we can fix it. I am now scared to even consider a jaw reconstruction. I am sad watching how unhappy you are with the results. I wish I could give you a hug. I can’t smile my teeth are horrible and my jaw is a mess but I am just gonna live with it. I am scared to do surgery and be even more unhappy 😭😭😭😭. Please make a video I hope you are doing okay you haven’t posted in years 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Hey, can I ask you a question please? How many millimeters does your upper jaw advance and how many millimeters does your lower jaw go back?
@angusting7018

This is why always always do presurgery braces before!! It serves an important purpose, which is supposed to make the teeth of the lower jaw pointed more outwards, so during the corrective jaw surgery, it will really actually aligned with your teeth...if it's straight before surgery, the surgeon would have to cut the bones differently, which may have impact the nerves more. That's why always do braces presurgery! TO MAKE SURE THE TEETH POINTED OUTWARDS, i know its weird but it's for the smooth procedure of the surgery and everything gets aligned properly

OMG girl no! Sue them. You paid too much money to settle for a crooked smile. Go to another surgeon and see what they say (don’t tell them you’ve had jaw surgery) test them to see if they say something is off first. Because tbh I notice it when you point it out.

I’m so sorry girl you look beautiful anyways and I don’t recommend veneers or shaving you teeth in any way at all (my orthodontist shave mine for me and it’s my biggest regret in my life) I know you just want it to be perfect but if you do other things you might just add other problems other the already existing ones And you will get comfortable with it with time I know it’s very frustrating and stressful to feel that your smile was better before while you did the surgery for it to be better I have the same struggle because I had braces and my orthodontist ended up removing it before the treatment was done and 2 other doctors after him confirmed that for me so I ended up with an overbite even though it could’ve been fixed with braces and I was still a child so it was easier than if I decide to do braces now again as an adult

Get a second opinion. Something is def up with your nose and your jaw moves differently when you speak when compared to before. As far as mouth movements and speech maybe that was expected as your whole mouth was rearranged. Just get a second opinion. You are still beautiful ❤ regardless. The doctors should take you seriously.

Why did you need upper jaw surgery? Couldn't they just fix your bite moving your lower jaw back? I feel like if they didn't touch your upper jaw, your nose issues wouldn't be there. Also, perhaps the screws and plates make your nose wider, there are right in that area. Why would Dr recommend Veneers for such a young person with beautiful teeth???

I think you look beautiful. I’m not an oral surgeon but I am a dental hygienist. I can tell your midline is way off. I would tell the surgeon that and ask him when you can get the surgery redone. For them to act like there is nothing wrong is unacceptable.
