That Peavey T-60 guitar was a heavy son of a gun, but remains one of the best sounding all around guitars that was ever produced! To bad the kid ruined the company.... Jerry Reed is in the top ten ten guitar players of all time in my book. The so-called guitar players now-a-days wouldn't hold a candle to the real players who played clean without all the gimmicks. We have a few today that are good, but not GREAT!

Jerry was wondering how old the song was. It was written by Hank Garland and Vaughn Horton and originally recorded by Garland in 1949. Red Foley's record listed Vaughn Horton as George Vaughn. (George Vaughn Horton was his full name).

You can recognize the guitar players in the comments because they are the ones giving props to the Peavey T60. Most guitarists play a Fender or a Gibson but the T60 was a great and highly under appreciated instrument. You can still snag one for a reasonable price.

@@kevfullo OMG! Many many years ago, when I was a young fellow I worked for a company that distributed Aria pro II instruments. They were quite good actually. They were manufactured in Japan. The most popular model was the “ Knightwarrior” which was a superstrat with a humbucker in the bridge and a Kahler tremolo. But the real treasure was a bass with active electronics called the SB-1000. They are still out there and they play and sound great!

JD-totally underated, most know him from his acting(which was excellent)-using the Peavey which was actually a decent guitar-I remember an interview where Clapton(Rolling Stone late 1960's) said there were 100's of guys down south who were better that him.

I will tell you a secret, but true story, my father gave Hank Garland Guitar Boogie and Sugar foot rag,my mom wouldn't allow my father to go anywhere to play or promote his music, so Hank Garland was about 15 years old when my father returned from ww2 and both taught Hank how to play guitar and gave Hank these two amazing instrumentals, but no one else on earth could ever play as well even near the talent my father had,and l don't believe anyone on earth will ever play as good as my father, am telling straight truth 💙, even Chet Atkins couldn't even tie my father's shoes when it comes to music, my father played better than anyone l have ever heard and this is straight truth!!!!!!!!
