Great video as always! I am a bit sad that this seems to be the last one, but I just wanted to let you know that you have created a really incredible and underrated channel.

I'm glad you think so. I still read and sometimes reply to comments; but my mental health really tanked this year, so I had to drop a few commitments.

Do you think the entire grid system can be skipped? My players aren't fans of grid based, mathematically cumbersome combat.

With a little work, it might be possible. I'll circle back around to this later with more details.

Okay, after checking a few of my notes, I have some leads on removing the grid. First, Kami-ga-kari is an Standard Roleplay System game; other games that use that include Double Cross, as well as The Konosuba TRPG. What they used instead was something called Engagements. Basically, if two or more people are close enough to run up and punch, kick, or otherwise beat each other, they're in an Engagement. Engagements are used in KGK, but you can basically treat anything as hitting a certain area, as hitting everybody in one Engagement. From there, you can use something like "Range Bands," as they're seen in Exalted or Shadowrun: Anarchy. Basically, your target is either Close, Short, Medium, Long, or Extreme distance away. After looking at the distance of some of the attacks, I noticed a few recurring numbers that would frequently come up: 7, 10, and 17. So Close would be - "In the Same Engagement" Short - "Less than 5 Squares away" Medium - "Up to 7 squares away" Long - "Up to 10 squares away" Extreme - "Everything else" And there's also a few powers that extend range - instead of measuring it out in squares, just guestimate having it increase one or two range bands. This is just a rough draft, but, I think it should point you in the right direction if you want to simplify the grid.

@@AaronderSchaedel I see. From the looks it shouldn't be too hard to avoid technical combat encounters every time, but it's nice to know tactics can go deep if necessary.

I'm glad that you've recovered, but it was a shock to hear of your crisis. What's you're take on BESM 4th Ed.?

I've only had a brief skimming, but it seems that 4th is a lot like 3rd, but with a different numberic scale. I like that they brought Niko Geyer back for the artwork. (Same guy who did the artwork for OVA, as well as some of the BESM 3rd and D20 artwork) Right now I'm of the opinion that it's worth getting if you were a fan of BESM, or you want a generic/setting neutral game. Otherwise, you can probably give it a pass.

I don't hope you answer my question but it's worth trying, Is there any news about the expansions? I heard there are at least two expansions already translated but I couldn't get ahold of them.

I can only talk about the official translation; and I can only find that they translated and published the core book.

The eternal conundrum for every game that isn't D&D, yeah? ...unfortunately, outside the scope of my channel. And not at all because i so frequently face that exact same question, no siree bob. rofl

Well far as internet strangers go I'd love to give this system a test run. I'm also sure some followers of the channel would love to help playtest the games you cover (at least I would, scheduling permitting.) I just don't see any active social media links around, if you have a Discord or Patreon or anything I must've missed it
