I just need to hear this about 100 times a day. I completely understand what he is saying. There is no end. It's about undoing for me and retrain, retrain, retrain...my religion had made me afraid of God. That was my block to meditating. All those "feelings" and defintions I absorbed. I not regretful. I AM-NESS is a huge amount of energy. In theory...I AM-NESS can accomplish anything. And take a step further to WE-AM-NESS...the power with that is pretty big!

Duration of the moment is defined by the objects. 5 minutes ago is out since, according to the conditions, nothing has changed. 500 years ago? What about ten years from now when the world is ripping itself apart not due to spiritual, religious or ideology, thought experiments and self hypnosis as a mode of escapism, but because there isn't enough. Hi brother, I think that to be in that state of peace is to be living in our deepest, truest self. Anxiety is the mark of spiritual insecurity. When we see love flowing through all things, and see how love is manifesting itself throughout humanity, we no longer worry. Certainly suffering exists, but suffering occurs precisely when we live in a state of illusion or separation from the ultimate reality: that we are all the flowering consciousness of God/Love/Life/Spirit.

To clarify further, my perspective is that god is the gross process of reality, and the inumerable parts thereof. Space is a kind of embodiment, as matter is an embodiment, embodiments of infnity, one of growing complexity and one of changelessness, endlessness. They are supreme contrasts to one another. The interaction of the two is the expression of god/reality. My psyche is of the universe of space, my body is of the universe of matter, Those two universes combine, and "I AM" the result.

I am a separate and intricate part of my environment at the same time. I am an individual and a part. I am who I am because of my environment and my environment is what it is because of me and all of its other parts, and the parts before. A mushroom trip can provide insights to the truth, but like any other insight the truth can be clouded by the ego-driven world we live in, the filters can be drawn again. The goal of these practices is to keep them removed.

You feel the pain for sure. It hurts you, it burns your skin, but Oneness is still whole. Your essence can not be destroyed with fire. If you are deeply rooted in your spirit you are indestructible. It doesn't mean you won't suffer while these things are happening, but you can be internally free even in a prison cell. There are stories of people who have become enlightened in concentration camps, pain often is the catalyst to find that inner strength. Just my perception for your thought.

@crotanger if you look at the objects in the room you are in now, notice that they all appear in space. noticing the space around objects in addition to the object is a meditative way to witness. it is a subtle point, but major difference. with thought forms it is the same...there is space around the thought form (so to speak). this is "big mind"...the space of awareness in which things appear. the added dimenstion of depth is spiritual seeing. usually the depth/space is missing.

"Absolute awareness cannot possibly exist because as far as I know, awareness always has content. One is always aware of something." ~ Dr. Fritz Perls
@robertlowryjr
Жыл бұрын
Questions answered by Nisargadatta: Q: You use the words 'aware' and 'conscious'. Are they not the same? M: Awareness is primordial; it is the original state, beginningless, endless, uncaused, unsupported, without parts, without change. Consciousness is on contact, a reflection against a surface, a state of duality. There can be no consciousness without awareness, but there can be awareness without consciousness, as in deep sleep. Awareness is absolute, consciousness is relative to its content; consciousness is always of something. Consciousness is partial and changeful, awareness is total, changeless, calm and silent. And it is the common matrix of every experience. Q: How does one go beyond consciousness into awareness? M: Since it is awareness that makes consciousness possible, there is awareness in every state of consciousness. Therefore the very consciousness of being conscious is already a movement in awareness. Interest in your stream of consciousness takes you to awareness. It is not a new state. It is at once recognised as the original, basic existence, which is life itself, and also love and joy.
@moonsod1113

There is absolute awareness when awareness is only aware of itself without content, which is the accurate definition of samadhi, and is the state of enlightenment where one moves from the foreground of awareness to the background where the Seer sees itself, and which is the container of all objects and all knowledge, which is experienced as the simplest form of Being being only itself. Perls was wrong because he was not liberated and so not able to see the true Self.

Of course it's intellectualising, the capacity to do so is a uniquely human gift. If not for this capacity we would not be asking who am I? Why am I here, Where am I going? What is the absolute backgorund root of ME? That's what Ken Wilber is explaining but if you don't have the intellect, you may not get it! If you know his work, you know he distinguishes between the map and the terrain.

what's the evolutionary advantage of qualia?
@JimmyGranit
9 жыл бұрын
silvastomp Yes. But as Nemo Cassum said, "what's the evolutionary advantage of qualia?". We can image an evolving universe without consciousness. We could have stars. planets, etc. without consciousness. We could also have lifeforms with no consciousness. Natural selection has nothing to do with consciousness, because natural selection could operate regardless of consciousness. But clearly that is not the case that we do not live in a universe that has no consciousness. So stop making naive intellectual statements about concepts you read in a book, and start learn more about consciousness, qualia, phenomenology, spirituality.
@ishmaelforester9825
9 жыл бұрын
JimmyGranit Actually, we can't imagine a universe without consciousness. A universe without consciousness is absolutely unimaginable because it requires consciousness to imagine anything. Any universe we might imagine presupposes consciousness by the mere fact we are imagining it. It's like trying to imagine genuine nothingness. It simply cannot be done. Any universe you might imagine would have to contain an imagining being.
@usbsol
9 жыл бұрын
Ishmael Forester you forget about a very important distinction between epistemology and ontology. How we get to know or perceive things or universes have no implication for their creation or existence. Imagining ( and also consciousness) are neither necessary or sufficient conditions of the creation or existence of any object that it might refer to. So, no matter whether a person imagines something has no effect on whether that thing exists ( be it a bicycle, a planet or a universe).

Truly remarkable stuff. A lot things that he says is somewhat in conjunction with Eckhart Tolle's teaching with Being. Being is not about thought but trancending thought. Being one with the present moment, and not indentifying with form. According to Tolle, Being or Conscious cannot be defined because it is about thought and definitions, which are forms, which are extensions of the ego.
@moonsod1113
9 ай бұрын
Why are you trying to explain Ken Wilbur in the light of Tolle's ignorance when he talks nonsense about the non-existing law of attraction and the equally simple-minded course in miracles, as well as the 1903-13 New Thought movement. There are no miracles and Tolle is merely awakened, not enlightened. The power of now is sickening religion; nothing to do with seeing the Self, Atman , as pure Being, what we really are and always have been behind what we think we are as body, mind and emotions and the background of all mentation. We are always here now - as That. Being has nothing to do with transcending thought; it is already What-It-Is, always has been. It is our identification with form which hides it.

Everyone says "I am-ness" normally called awareness or pure awareness or whatever....... is eternal and ever present, I wouldn't debate it directly but I would like to point out that this awareness dies again and again. for example everytime I go to sleep it dies while I let go into sleep. consciousness, in the way that Wilber uses it here, means to be aware. In this sense, does thinking mean you are conscious? No it does not. We can think for hours without realizing we are thinking. It is when we can step back from our thoughts and realize "I am thinking" that we are conscious, or aware, of our thoughts. That awareness is who we are. We are not our thoughts, our thoughts are just thoughts. No words can really capture who we are, we simply are. I am. I-am-ness
