I have only made one knife before this, a regular western style chefs knife with a full tang handle, I've been using it for about a year, but often find myself prefering a santoku style blade, I had another piece of 1075 steel lying around from my first knife so I decided to try making a satoku shaped knife. This was also my first time attempting a hidden tang or Wa style handle with a brass bolster and that was a lot more work than I thought it would be to get everything fitting nicely.
In a previous video you saw me customise a 4x36" belt grinder to be able to grind knife bevels, in this video I make a santoku style knife using my new belt grinder to grind the bevels. I think it worked very well!
I've used the knife a few times now and I'm very happy with it, the carbon steel is already starting to patina.
