How do I make elk taste like beef? This is it. I made bulgogi with elk meat and you won't believe this is not beef! This venison bulgogi is even better and healthier than beef. I used a manual meat slicer to slice it thinly to about 1/16 of an inch and used the traditional Korean marinade. This venison bulgogi turned out so soft and authentic, I couldn't believe I made it taste this good, especially given how chewy and tough elk meat can be. I even used a sirloin tip, which isn't the most tender cut but it didn't matter. Still turned out super tender.

Recipe:
2 lbs of elk meat (frozen to slice)
1/3 cup mirin
sesame seeds
3 tbsp light sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
2 tsp garlic powder
pinch of black pepper (forgot to add this in the video)
1 onion
3-4 cloves of garlic
1 carrot
4 shiitake mushrooms (or oyster or button mushrooms)
3-4 green onion
cooked rice
1 fried egg (optional)
