A scene from the movie Lady in the Water. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Music composed by James Newton Howard. The Great Eatlon is the name of the track.
The decision to place the "camera" under water when the great eathlon arrives and blur the way it's taking Story away, is pure perfection. 👌

I know right? The main guy thought he might be the guardian, then he wasn't, so they didn't know who was the guardian, and then.."Oh my G..he's the guardian. Reggie! Reggie Reggie! Just keep looking in his eyes!" And the thing of it is, my first time watching this movie I watched it with my best friend who told me before we started, for me to pay attention to every little thing. And the ONE thing that slipped me, was Reggies name. So I wasn't sure who he was talking about at first until the camera went to him XP XD

+Matt Greer I don't really appreciate that he cast himself as one of the primary characters. But I don't mind the other minor cameos he did. They were totally fine. Remember the Hobbit movies? Well, even respecting the wide variety of opinions, this is a rare case of a poorly made movie (it has its highs and its very low lows) that really had something great underneath, something really intense and true, and that is why I guess it has managed to reach the following that it has. How much I would have loved to see it done well. The scene "Thank you for saving my life" always makes me fantasize that it belonged to that hypothetical movie that could have made justice to its story.

I remember I was in a very dark place when I first picked up this movie from Blockbuster. I was basically an untreated basket case of depression and severe anxiety. In the years since, from the help of therapy and medication, I have been able to live a normal, successful life. The reason I'm telling you all of this, is because this was the first movie that made me feel like everyone on this Earth has a purpose. It made me feel like maybe even I had a purpose, and for that reason alone it will always be one of my favorite movies of all time. In a weird sort of way, Story came to my rescue when I needed it the most. If you're reading this and you're struggling with the same things I used to, you need to understand that there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is always a way out of the darkness.

We rode over the cities of New York, Philadelphia, Memphis, Detroit etc. People looked up at us as we flew over the city, many of them waving to us. Story and I landed on an uncharted location, to me, it was like the Bahamas, only it had a blue like tint to it. We got off the Eatlon and we lived there in her world, the blue world. Then I woke up. One thing notable about most of M Night S's movies is the music, the soundtrack, the score. James Newton Howard has composed some absolutely beautiful, memorable stuff to accompany this guy's films. As part of this world we live in, this universe, do we have a pre-defined role to play? Is our existence not merely an accident but in actuality, part of a series of events in which we, all of us, have conduct that defines the next step? Lady In The Water attempts to answer this question in a loving and dramatic way. As an atheist, I don't necessarily believe in the stated philosophy. But M. Night Shyamalan's interpretation of "fate" moved me to an unbelievably deep degree. Just the idea of ANY individual, no matter how plain or boring they may be, having a "role to play" in the scheme of things is an incredibly profound statement. I LOVE this movie so much for that reason. No matter how depressed you feel, as insignificant you feel you are, as totally not relevant you feel to the world around you, there is a role you must play. As the movie infers, it is upon YOU to keep going and fulfil that role. Not knowing what that role is maybe immaterial.

I don't know you, but Reggie being the guardian was the biggest plot twist in the movie for me, I would have never thought he'd be that important, omg, I love it

Don't forget Reggie was always hanging in the stairway until Mr. Heep yells at him to stop that ("someone could fall"); where does Story go when she needs help after being attacked earlier in the move...the stairway! Reggie would have been there if not for being told to stop being there.

Why can't neat shit like this happen at my apt. complex? PS Love the whole eagle scene, just wish you could see the bird better when it picks her up.

I think the point is that us who aren't of that world aren't permitted to see it, since the other creatures are shown clearly.

I love this movie and especially this last scene The people are challenged with understanding their purpose in life and some like Reggie find it (accidentally) The lady heals all but isn’t from our world so she’s called back. I cry when I watch this scene because of so many things. The filming is beyond excellent and M Night is a genius of mood creation IMO. Also because I think that my beloved wife is gifted from another place and will return by Eatlon method and I will be sad but healed by her This movie works because it tackles things beyond our world that we can’t fully understand

It's fantastic the way people answer about things... they don't argue about the ideas or something like this... just write down a personal offense! My best wishes for you all in 2009! And I really hope that the Cinema Industry release good films... for you, like this, for me, like others!

This was a great movie. I always thought the ending was sad. Because it was the last time they would see each other.

I loved how at the start of the film, Cleveland said that reggie always wanted to be special, hence the bicep thing. Then at the end of the movie reggie turned out to be really special being the guardian. This movie was awesome. I loved how it's about everyone having a purpose. I'm not an M. Night fan but stop hating on every movie he did. Avatar isn't the only movie he did, he made a few brilliant ones. :)

I won't ignore the obvious points this movie is hated on for, but you just don't see people trying to make many 'modern' fairy tales much. We need more people trying to take a crack at this and understand they'll be criticized a lot, because fairy tales ARe very weird.O_O The whole point about 'omg how does everyone know about narfs' is easy to explain- this isn't our earth, it's the earth in this story. Ever notice in fairy tales that the local inhabitence always know about the legends, lore or backstory to support the rest of the tale? It's the same gimmick here- in THIS world, they all know what Narfs are. Like how people in story books know about dragons, or wizards, or certain rules with how to deal with fairies when the protagonist comes looking for answers. It's just the setting that keep jarring people, it's modern times instead of ancient/fantasy. But keep in mind, back in the day, THEY were US as the audience. Some person listening to their grandmother talk around the campfire would be wrinkling thier eye brows going- "pffft how come everyone knows how to deal with the witch? this is modern day- we have wheels and cannons now!"

This is my favorite part of the movie! Crash is one of THE BEST creature-creators EVER! The Great Eatlon, though we only see so much of it, is an amazing CGI spectacle!
