There's no way that comes apart without heat or oil after almost 200 years in damp soil . I was thinking maybe 30 years by the looks of it , he still did a good job though.

It looks exaclty like a 170 year old gun that was just badly stored and not maintained during that time. Doubt it's been underground for even a single week.

i doubt it was in the ground, its in too good of condition, if it was in the ground, you would see serve rust pitting.

@ghosthunter5100

@@clambroth1923 maybe so, but what youre seeing isnt consistent with being buried in the ground.. there are plenty of videos out there with relics found in the ground and get restored, you will see the difference… this gun doesnt have the characteristics of being buried that long, it would have major pitting, more deterioration.. this gun doesnt have that.

It may not be firable but it still became a nice piece of history. If you had a bit of knowledge as to if it was found where a battle happened or not, it would make that restoration even more interesting.

hello, awesome job on this. There is one thing i would like to note. When using a rotary tool its better to use one with steel wool like wires and not inox ones. They will scratch the surface less and be better for the gun.

Old revolvers like this are usually blued. I think they were first invented in Belgium in the 1800’s this design lead us to modern day centre fire cartridge revolvers
@laurentdevaux5617

No, these kind of revolvers, made from the 1860's to the 1890's, and, it's true in great numbers in Belgium, are inspired by the French Lefaucheux of 1858. A much rarer and highly sought after weapon
