In this video Dave talks about a Martini-Enfield carbine from the Diamond Fields Artillery unit based at Kimberley in the Cape Colony, Long Cecil (the cannon designed by the American Engineer George Labram, and constructed at the DeBeer diamond mine facilities at Kimberley), and a set of medals to a Gunner, Cpl P.Nicholson.
George Labram was killed by a shell from the Boer "Long Tom" just two weeks prior to the siege of Kimberley being lifted. Today Long Cecil stands on display outside the Honored Dead Memorial in central Kimberley.
