It rained hard overnight following the stunningly clear day over the Dunstan Road.
Not sure what to do, so we ended up sitting around at Allen and Rob's Motel most of the wet morning, drinking coffee - trolling through ‘Guide-books’ while waiting for the weather to clear up.
I had driven Mt. Buster in stormy weather previously, so thought we could go for a drive to Naseby and up Buster - even if the weather wasn’t the best.
So late in the morning we set off to the northern end of the Maniototo.
When we got up the 1,200m ridge - the weather had cleared to a beautiful day, so since it was "ONLY 48km" from the bottom of Buster - over the Ida Range and back down to Home Hills Runs Road - thought we might give it a crack.
What could possibly go wrong…..
