We walk back and forth through the alleys of Funchal. The first stop is the colourful, attractive market hall. Only the fish market is not quite to our taste. Next we head to the information centre and the cathedral. There we are lucky that a singer is rehearsing with the organist. This makes the cathedral even more impressive. We continue to wander through parks and alleys and then we head to Rua da Santa Maria, where painted doors (graffiti) are the pride of the local residents. Most of the houses are now restaurants. From there we walk along the harbour promenade and then we visit the town hall and the church of St John the Evangelist.
