I always set burner pressure with max airflow to ma. Pressure drop across burner and when VFD is minimum a flow pressure drop across burner is the minimum , normally but most of the ones I serviced was WeatherRite and they have burner profile dampers with. Damper motors and controller to maintain the proper pressure drop across the burner

Great job Rick! Interesting old building. That control is nice, I had one this past winter you could see all information from that control, static and temperature.

Sounds like the one I started earlier this winter, that one had vfds in the control box above the exhaust hood. Thanks for checking it out! Hope your doing well!

Well I don't know who doesn't know about adjustable wrenches. I looked it up and they've been around since 1907. We've got some that date back to 1915 on the farm. Great job 👌

I will admit, when you looked at the gas pipe, and then immediately looked up, my thought process was. "Um.. It doesn't matter what that little valve above says. The main valve is in the _off_ position."

Hello Rick, Another great video, I had a couple of questions for clarification if possible. You had mentioned a couple of times the VFD running at 80 HZ I had not realized that the drive could produce that and also motor nameplate stated 60 HZ. You had also mentioned a couple of times that the Maxitrol maintains diff temp but I believe it only a discharge air temp controller, l do realize you were trying to set temp rise with the high fire adjustment Also a good idea to check flame signals which you may have done and not showed. Again great video.

I might have misspoken, the Maxitrol does maintain the discharge temperature, but you still have to do the max and min. case temperature rise. The manual tells you what size pilot you should have and what the minimum fire burner should look like along with the min. temp rise. They don't ask you to check the micro amps, there is all kinds of things we could spend time on but there more times than not its not needed. The motor was VFD rated and the speed it was at was from the factory, the factory claims to test these prior to leaving. I did not investigate why they had it that high, I didn't have time to research that, I only start a few of these up a year, I have not seen them set that high before but that's where they had it.

Another great video. You are one of the best at understanding what you are working on....using manufacturing information to set up/ diagnose the equipment and understanding what you are doing....big brains on Mr Rick 😁😁😁😁. I always enjoy your videos and the way you explain things. Look forward to the next one and all the others that follow that.

Thanks thanks Jason, obviously I have to go through the manual myself and just re-familiarize myself with it. It's been 4 months since I've started one.

That's actually a newer version I picked up cheap. I have two of the older ones. This one actually will switch to differential temp pretty fast and back to individual probe temps.

@@HVACRSurvival Right , I was wondering how come the displayed temp changed so fast , cause mine is rather slow . Great , now I want one ... 🤬

I don’t work on this type of equipment but I do find it interesting all those different controls and checks and balances that these things do is amazing! I’m a residential HVAC guy been in the trade for 16 years only done some light commercial work, RTUs mainly. 65-70 degrees outside it’s the end of summer where are you based out of?

Good job DJ Rick, I didn't know you worked on jet engine furnaces , to many controls and looks really complicated for me, I like it when things are basic or easy, To much like the democratic government where they want control and regulations, sorry if anyone is offered, I'm just tired of the chaos that democrats are making us go through, not trying to be political, not trying to take sides either.Good job again Rick. I'll stick to basics.
