This can work very well on simpler models, but for more complex models you will end up with thousands of little pieces in your UVs. Good video tho

Aren't Auto UVs kind of loathed in the industry at large?

It's more that it shows that. You know nothing. And you are taking the easiest way out

Good video but a bit misleading. Depending on what you're doing that could be a preferred method. However, if you're doing game art I strongly suggest students or aspiring game artist to understand how to efficiently pack your models in one UV space. You also didn't cover UDIMS which are a godsend when dealing with higher fidelity work. It also makes it easier because you don't need multiple material ID's. This can become a hassle when dealing with something like unreal.

Except the video is about using the auto uv unwrapper. Also he did show how to efficiently pack models. It's a quick and dirty way but it'll get the job done. At this point you may as well also complain that he didn't talk about hard edges or how he made the model lol

@@snakebebop quick and dirty? Yeah, obviously never worked on a game. Quick and dirty is not efficient nor is it ever the optimal. Good luck ever getting a job with that mentality.

@@cr3d294 what are you on about? The video is about automatic unwrapping, not about making videogames or anything like that.

Are you saying to have one asset with several 3D models to be packed into one UV space? I'm trying to find the best option to add into my workflow, and I need answers haha!

you are confusing unwrapping with simple UV mapping, which is what you are doing here.
