Recorded live during my Senior Undergraduate Degree Recital on December 15, 2023 at Bales Recital Hall at the University of Kansas. This recording also includes the slideshow that accompanied the performance, which functions as “program notes” and is a walkthrough intended to help listeners draw fully of the depth of this monumental work of Messiaen. My many thanks to my page turner, Ann Pham, and especially to Trevor Good, who so masterfully ran the slideshow with its complex animations, all while listening and following along to a score in a dark recital hall.

1. All of Messiaen's own annotations that he writes in the score are included in French with English translations, and I've included my own commentary based on ideas I formulated over the time spent preparing this piece.
2. Microsoft Powerpoint was the software used for the slides.
3. Siglind Bruhn's book, "Messiaen's Interpretations of Holiness and Trinity: Echoes of Medieval Theology in the Oratorio, Organ Meditations, and Opera" was of valuable insight to the analysis of the Meditations.
4. All Gregorian chant scores are taken from gregobase.com
5. Canva’s “Background Remover” tool was utilized in many of the images (particularly the birds) to preserve the "blackout" backdrop of each slide.
6. Birds used to accompany Messiaen’s birdsong in the Meditations (in order of appearance, some are reused):
