Guys, guys.. What is with all the hate? This car puts more down to the ground than most of your cars make at the crank.. that is impressive no matter what it is being made in. kevintomb "Uh ya...sounds like it will last all of about 3 weeks.....really noisy, sounds like it is about to blow up, just horrible......I guess they dont know that smoke is bad with diesel. It is a sign that things are not correct." I have never read something as stupid as what I just read here. All I heard was a REALLY superbly operating 1.9 Diesel engine. Do you own one? Do you know what they personally sound like? I do, I have three of them. Also what extreme power drag cars are built to last?? Idiot.

black smoke doesnt mean the engine is not running properly, it is normal in pretty much all turbo diesel engine that have a mechanical fuel injection pumps. its just excess fuel being injected into the cylinders while experiencing turbo lag. once the car builds boost, the smoke goes away because the increase in air pressure creates an efficient burn. the black smoke you see is actually sulfur particles, which fall harmlessly to the ground. what is left is less harmful than gasoline exhaust.

@mattmaw903

+Ryan Anderson A huge turbo is harder to spool so you can get a lag on your boost. If you have a small turbo feeding a larger one the small turbo creates pressure that can spool the bigger one faster.
@bryengoheen5575
8 жыл бұрын
+Matt Maw and also in the case of a lot of diesel compound set-ups you use the smaller one to compressor more, so you can have a higher pressure ratio. most turbo's can't do more then 3 or 4(about 45 psi max) witch to be honest is a lot of boost but not for a race engine. theres some diesel race engine going well past 100 psi.
@boostaddict_

Race engine? Most guys putting around on the streets towing hit 100+ psi. I see 120psi daily on my compound turbo cummins. Its not a race car or drag truck . It brings me to work and tows my shit. Psi is just a number of restriction. Cfm is what matters.

This car is just amazing. How many lbs of boost ate you running on this little 1.6, and is it still a 1.6? Also all these people that keep talking about global warming and destroying the environment, read and learn a little bit, just so you know diesel smoke is more dense then air so therefore it sinks right back to the ground unlike petrol exhaust that floats away into the atmosphere. So actually those beloved little Prius that everyone loves so much do more harm to the ozone then any diesel w

Haha smoke is bad with diesel hahaha. Decat diesels smoke like fuck under load. Removing the Cat whilst destroying the car behind you's windscreen is good for your car. It increases the airflow in the exhaust giving you more power on top of that

BoostAddict Diesels are the complete oposite of cars . More fuel &air = more power but If you have a clean burning diesel engine and add fuel it will add power . A diesels stoichiometric area in combustion has a very smokey exhaust. Hence you see all the guys making big power with fuel only blowing huge clouds of black smoke while making their runs.

after really seeing on youtube diesel tuned turbo engines thats my next tune a diesel engines just make so much torque at the wheels.tuning force to the wheels matters alot in racing.tuned diesl cars with 500hp make 1000 ft/lb tq.diesel power.
@rileykirk11
8 жыл бұрын
not really, only in big cylinder engines like trucks. a 500 horsepower om617 turbo diesel would be lucky to make 500 lb ft. plus only horsepower matters in racing, as a car with 1000 lb ft and 500 horsepower will only rev half of what a 500 hp 500 lb ft car will so you can use gearing to convert the extra rpms to torque, and vise versa.
@anthonyrybczynski5420
7 жыл бұрын
Riley Kirk you are incorrect. The torque/horsepower characteristics of your engine weather gasoline or diesel are based on crankshaft design, bore/stroke ratio, air flow, fuel injection system and compression ratio.
@rileykirk11
7 жыл бұрын
Anthony Rybczynski Yes thats very true but i dont think you can make a gasoline engine with a 10 liter cylinder have a 1:1 horsepower to torque ratio. The bore/stroke ratio, rod to stroke ratio and all those definately have effects but the size of the cylinder also has a effect.
@anthonyrybczynski5420
7 жыл бұрын
Riley Kirk If you look at older airplane engines they have big displacement and some have for example 200hp and 750ftlbs torque but some are around 750hp /700torque. I think it totally depends on the application. Usually big engines are too heavy for vehicles so they disregard weight in exchange for durability among other things. I think they can be built to perform as you require but big stuff is designed for torque because torque is what gets work done.
@rileykirk11

Why is it called a ricer? Because asian people eat rice, and ricers are asian cars. Volkswagen is german. Rarely are german and american cars riced, most ricers are mitsubishis and hondas not a mk3 tdi golf. Amountof cylinders doesn't matter in my opinion. As long as it has ridiculous exterior mods and big flashy rims and a fart can on the back it's a ricer.
