I'm not gonna lie--I totally have hair lust after watching this video. Your hair is gorgeous! I have 70, and I'm floored you have 90. They're so thick! I wish I could fast forward to more maturity! I have been locked before; I had 100+ before. I cut them because I didn't want to unlock or join them. Now 2 years later I'm locked back up amd (mostly) enjoying my journey.

Your Locs are so beautiful and has an awesome thickness. I'm in my second month, waiting for the progress to go into full bloom... I'm excited☺ Thank you for sharing this insightful info. I do however have to use a bit of light weight oils on my hair. Tea tree, peppermint and Vitamin E mixed with spring water. And close it out with Rose water. I like the way it makes my baby girls feel...😆

Wow...Your locs are so amazing...it's just wrong lol I am almost 4 months into my loc journey and have decided to semi-freeform for a while : ) I have found that when I'm shampooing my hair, if I run my fingers between the parts in the direction I want my locs to go, it helps shape/turn the locs in that direction (hope that make sense). They are short but now laying down in such a way that I don't even tie my hair up at night. I just lay on a silk pillow case, and when I wake up, they are not sticking up. Thank you for the semi-freeforming advice!!

Looks fantastic, miss. Remind me; have you washed with that frequency from the very beginning? I'm working on a new set of DIY locs. My first set, which I had for seven years, was "salon locs," the avoid-water-at-all-costs route. With these ones I've been wetting my hair completely, or at least spritzing generally, most every day.
@LaurenJacksonlocs29
8 жыл бұрын
I waited about a month before I actually washed my hair. Before then, I spritz every morning so they were damp and moisturized with only water, and after a month, I began to wash very gently! I washed maybe 1-2 times a week I think...I may have mentioned it more specifically in earlier update videos :)

@brittanyjustbeing
8 жыл бұрын
I am thinking about not palmrolling anymore but i just started my locks 7 weeks ago yet the back is already budding. They say palmrolling just compresses the lock and makes it cylindrical, but i really would like to give it some freedom! Do you think its okay to just finger twist and wait a while for retwist this early? And do you clip your hair down or just let it be when you touch up your roots?

@LaurenJacksonlocs29
8 жыл бұрын
Hey, Selena! My hair seems to loc as it grows. But not completely, so I do maintain by pulling the locs apart only if they start to merge together after a wash. I also wrap loose hairs near my scalp around the loc (sometimes), to train the hair to grow into the loc. But if you do it, be sure to only do that when you hair is wet! Hope this helps!

How do you dry your hair since you wash often, air dry, bonnet, or overhead dryer? I was asking because our thickness is similar and I find that my locs will not be all the way dry in the inside when i air dry.
@LaurenJacksonlocs29
8 жыл бұрын
I dry my hair first thing out of the shower with a towel so it's not dripping! Then I let it air dry the rest of the day. I also always shower in the morning, so by mid-day, especially when I'm outside in this Florida heat, my hair is definitely all the way dry. To the point where I need to spritz it with water! But if you feel like your locs do not dry all the way by air drying, I wouldn't risk mildew buildup!

So after that 1st twisting at the beginning of your journey you never twisted again? You just left it alone n let it form?

Lauren have you died your hair ? It looks a little brownish! How did you get your hair to lock like that without going to the loctitian ? It looks perfect!
@LaurenJacksonlocs29
8 жыл бұрын
+Thara Messeroux I haven't died my hair! The ends have been exposed to the most sunlight, so over time they have gotten lighter! Especially being in south Florida haha and my hair has been the happiest once I locked them! Even since the beginning, they seemed to stay put and not merge with other locs. My loctitian gave the right amount of locs and size of the sections. But I also do maintain my locs, I train the loose hairs by wrapping them around the nearest loc (when my hair is wet) and as little as possible! Hope this helps!

I wonder if you will turn into a wondrous modern day medusa like Valerie June :) Thanks for sharing the info about the shampoo! I tend to choose hydrating shampoos since my hair gets really dry, but a strengthening shampoo once in a while could really help. I think I will start daily spritzing too to help my hair stay elastic and healthy! ^_^ About the hair in the face lol! I remember when I dreamed of reaching that length. Now I am at hair in my food stage. I will soon have to clip my hair to avoid chewing on my hair lol!!!! Good tip about flipping and changing your parts. I have kind of settled but I am thinking of waiting till they get a bit longer and have more weight to them. It will be easier to move them around since they are thinner. Let
