This trimaran was designed and built by Mark Gumprecht.

When I first saw it for sale I immediately went to work finding every bit of information available online. I looked at all the construction photos I could find and determined it was a well thought out design with excellent construction. It met my standards, meaning I could take advantage of someone else's skills and not have to build myself - I am no longer interested in large build projects; I want to spend time having fun, not building.
It was what I was looking for in a smaller, faster boat, with a cabin including sleeping nook and galley. I had looked at other smaller production tri's, but the cost was too much for my taste (E.G., shipping alone could be upwards of $10,000 for an Astus 20.5 out of France). Extras on this boat include a photovoltaic system for battery charging, self-furling foresails, wing mast, autopilot, etc. I took the plunge....
I called the second owner/seller and we agreed on a deal. Then the wait, for the delivery window/arrangements to evolve - this turned out to be months later in Gary, Indiana in the parking lot of the newly built Hard Rock Casino. It was a hurried hand-off as suddenly the Hard Rock personnel wanted us out of their empty parking lot we had previously been given permission to use - it seems their Grand Opening required their employees to move their cars to the overflow lot where we were.
So, the first rig in the yard was an adventure as I didn't have much information to go on, and pictures of some aspects were lacking. I made some mistakes but didn't break anything.
The boat sails nicely. It is fast and nimble. I have a lot to learn yet but look forward to venturing out further now that I can cover ground more quickly. I want to spend a few days around the Sandusky Bay area, and use my Cedar Point Gold/Food Pass without having to drive each day. Anchoring without having to pay a marina fee will be challenging ;-) When the Canadian border reopens I will also include a little passage north.
The only negative thus far is the two hour setup. Planning to allow for staying on the water for more than one day will lesson that dent in the fun aspect of owning this boat.
