Hey...like what you're saying about the spring and oil rate. I had a buddy with an AWD Subaru and he was having some issue breaking out of the 11s. She softened his suspension and let it squat in the rear and lift in the front. He cut a full second as soon as he did that. Instead of burning out, it hooked HARD and launched!!!!!! Makes sense with RC too. Just at smaller scale.

Most of the droop I think you're talking about is from lightweight oil in the shocks and soft springs. The concept of stiffer rear suspension (higher weight oil) is to slow the transfer of weight. If you can make the process slower. More grip is applied over time of launch. That's the idea of "diff. fluid" in shocks. My rear is 1k and front 2k. And softer on springs

Good explanation man is that front end I just can’t see it working properly say the car polls to the right so obviously you stare in the opposite direction to pull it back but with the angles of those front wheels the left wheel wants to dig in which makes sense on a loose surface which is what the chassis was designed for but on straight line runs does this not exacerbate the car wanting to flip because of that front lead will digging in be interesting to hear your thoughts I might be overthinking it👊

Rear hub highest has lots to do with traction on an rc car and nobody is talking about it when it comes to traction and also take and trail in the front end has everything to do with how fast your car turns and on a dirt or clay track you need your front end to cut as much as you can deal with but in the world of straight line you want your rake n trail not much more than 5 degrees 95 present of rc cars are designed for off road and bashing so the factory puts the rake and trai at very high angles to combat acting forces on the front wheels to help with rigidity and combat against front lower a-arms brakeage they are laid back at extreme angles so all of these things translate into hard to control cars once any steering input is required and this in one of the main reasons for lots of cars flipping.....just my 2ctz

Ok I've been working on rc cars for 40 years if your prepping your car how is it no prep drag racing ? Do u run what u bring can u not prep the car at the track if u put tire sticking compound r u prepping the car no prep means u r what u bring with out touching it I don't understand please explain
@FullThrottleRC
4 жыл бұрын
No Prep in drag racing refers to the track. The track gets nothing done to it other than maybe sweeping or blowing the dust off of it. No tire dragger to lay down rubber on the surface, no compound sprayed on the track, and most of the time, no compound on the tires either. Some allow you to use stuff on the tires but it has to be completely dry for the run. So No Prep racing is not referring to the car itself as not being prepped. The car needs to be tuned to get down whatever surface you're running on.

Don't forget you can use swaybar for preload also

Sure can! I try to make sure all of the preload comes from the shocks and not the sway bar though

Not really sure what you mean, you can check out the thumbnail and around 4:41 in the video and you will see the orange shock. Associated uses a color coded system for their different shock stiffnesses

Moving a shock from 45 degrees to upright increases the spring rate by about 50%
@FullThrottleRC

At 45 degrees the spring rate is progressive as apposed to direct with upright shocks. I wanted the direct spring rate instead of progressive

Hello what’s a good rtr to buy for my first drag car DR10 or the losi 22s
@FullThrottleRC
Жыл бұрын
Honestly I can't give an honest comparison of the two because I haven't had my hands on either one. I can speak for Associated's parts and chassis designs as I originally ran a SC5M based chassis and now run the DR10M. But I know Losi makes some nice stuff as well. I know that doesn't really answer your question but I know both are good starting cars.

What brand and part number is the wheelie bar and what is the part number for the shock tower in the rear?
@FullThrottleRC
3 жыл бұрын
The wheelie bar was from RC Racing Innovations, check out their site, they have a bunch of different wheelie bars, this was the 7" one. I run a custom wheelie bar now. The shock tower is the standard Associated SC5M tower, I haven't been able to find them recently as most of the SC5M parts are discontinued.

Pretty sure there's an unlimited or "anything goes" type of class in most clubs. Bring what you have to a local race and see what class it fits in.
