Nancy Wilson was the best jazz,r and b singer I have ever worked with , I was 9 year old, my father did a ton of back up music , he worked with Nat King Cole ,Frank Sinatra , and whole ,bunch of talent, he was born in 1903, had a baritone voice , that melted hearts, he played stand up bass, piano, and ,6 and 12 string guitar, I am the only one that God gave me a gift , I can sing and hit 8 octives, I still can , I am 67 , the youngest of 7 , I only sing when I am at church or washing and cleaning.my father told I have a gift from god, but I am female , and the industry would chew me up and destroy my so I only share it , with a few, being female and watching how fame destroys females, , I always stayed , but before I die , I would like to my history, and my voice with people that need love and kindness, I have been hiding my secret for many years . This is the first time in my life I want to give back what God, and my father gave to me. I was always afraid , now at this age, someone need to heat the love that have for the humane race, I sing to animals , wild and domestic, they all come to me in peace, autism , is something that my son was born with, only way to teach autistic nonverbal autistic children is with music, and music, start early, my son speaks eight languages, and he is still learning. I will only teach and sing with love, That,s what it’s all about, , my name is Cara Melinda James. I was born with that name, I will die with that name, God bless all of you. Thank you for your time miss Cara Melinda James

This is AMAZING. I have loved Nancy Wilson all of my life. She is so classy and such a lady. I am so pleased to have seen this video. Thank you for posting it. This is a masterpiece. I love Al Jarreaus version too, but this performance takes it. This is so beautifully deep and rich, and sang with such poise and style. Awesome! Much respect for dear Nancy!

@malcolmromeo What an excellent comment. You are so right! She deserves some real props! She should get a Kennedy Honor too in my opinion. She is an absolute National treasure. I hope she gets one. I just learned yesterday, that her last performance was in Ohio in September. So she has retired. Bless her heart.

My uncle Rusty Bryant gave Ms Wilson her start back in the day. She and my mother sang with his orchestra a lot before his career got started. My mother was Barbara McCarroll. He once told the story of Ms Wilson wanting to go with his band to California, but there wasn’t any room in the van with all of the equipment. She was upset. About half way through the trip they kept hearing noises in the back of the van. He pulled over to see what it was and discovered that Nancy had hid behind the drums. So they had to take her with them. The rest is history.
