To me, the entire points of eating oats is because it's really convenient and healthy. At least that's the case for me. I don't eat oats because they are delicious, I eat them because it fills me up, it's super cheap, it's super fast and easy and it's healthy ontop of it, it's literally an S-tier food in all categories aside from taste. Sure, what he's doing is probably a lot more delicious than doing it normally, but it's pretty damn unhealthy, and it's definitely not quick when compared to slapping a bowl with some oats and water in the microwave for 2 minutes, or doing it on the stovetop for a couple mins.

Ramsay shows mistakes too, just not on any US show, because well, it's the US. But also, the reason we see so many mistakes from Reynold here compared to his desserts, is well, he's an expert at desserts, but his main dishes are a bit weak. It happens when you put most of your focus into one area of the culinary arts (I mean, even being a barista, a real one at that, is an art in itself, but I bet they couldn't make an actual decent juiced drink, I know I can't). I mean, nothing wrong with it though. This guy is a master at desserts now, he could literally design pressure tests that can barely be recreated by anyone else. I think, though, that the difference in his training shows with this.

I'll be honest, I'm do enjoy oats in winter. I put rolled oats, raisins, honey (or treacle), cinnamon, clove and a teaspoon of crunchy peanut butter in a bowl with the right amount of milk. Do that the night before and everything is hydrated and just needs to be quickly heated in the microwave. The spices and honey are the main flavour but the peanut butter adds a thickness that isn't glue-like and covers the 'cardboard' flavour perfectly. Do it with cocoa in stead of dry spices if you have a penchant for Reese's cups.

done something similar for the last 10 or so years, I've eaten oats my whole life and don't care for the sweet version anymore. I usually add some spice to mine also though, Sambal Oelek or in a pinch Sriracha. Most of my friends and wife look at me weird when they see me making it, maybe this middle aged, white Canadian has just spent too much time in South east Asia to be happy with Honey and milk on oats. Never tried adding milk to the chicken stock though, I'll give that a shot tomorrow.
